Many crewmembers participate in Mercy Ministries during their free time. One group visited the Mercy Ships HOPE Center, our outpatient recovery center. 

It is a big step of faith to volunteer to serve others in a developing country… and live onboard a hospital ship with over 400 other volunteers. 

Madagascar has a population of 24 million and limited healthcare.  And it’s even more difficult in remote villages. 

Obstetric fistula is a childbirth injury caused by obstructed labor.  But, after a successful surgery onboard our Mercy Ship, a special ceremony is held to celebrate new life and new hope.

Sophie’s 5-year-old daughter Brinda suffered from a club foot. The little girl received free surgery onboard our Mercy Ship.

The countries we serve have little or no healthcare.  So, we see very complicated cases onboard our hospital ship. 

Volunteering onboard our hospital ship is an exciting experience.
