Fifteen-year-old Clara Daly was on a flight from Boston to Los Angeles. A flight attendant asked, “Does anyone know American Sign Language?”

Our hospital ship is basically a floating city, and we need volunteers with many different skill sets. 

Ibrahim was 24 years old when his legs were badly burned in a fire.  He was unable to walk or even stand. 

Margaret Southern loved children and animals. She taught special-needs children in Greenville, South Carolina.

People are excited when our hospital ship arrives. It carries a precious cargo of dedicated volunteers and free surgical care.

Jason McElwain was diagnosed with autism at age 2. He was considered high functioning, and his friends called him J-Mac.

People hear about Mercy Ships in many different ways. And they choose to volunteer for many different reasons. 

Jorge Munoz starts work at 5:15 in the morning. He drives a school bus in New York City. 

Mercy Ships hires local people to work onboard our hospital ships in various roles. These day-crew help bridge the cultural gap between us and the people we serve.
