A woman in Florida witnessed a random act of kindness and posted photos on her Facebook page. 

Mercy Ships offers free surgeries onboard our hospital ships.  But we also set up land-based services, such as a dental clinic. 

People are excited when our hospital ship arrives.  It carries a precious cargo of dedicated volunteers and free surgical care. 

Clarence was an 81-year-old Army veteran who was battling cancer.  His cupboards were empty, and he was hungry.

Witnessing the transformation of the patients onboard our hospital ship transforms our volunteers as well.

Leocadie heard these terrible words:  “There’s something wrong with your baby.” Her new baby boy was born with a huge tumor on his tailbone. 

Dr. Paul Brand grew up in India as the son of missionary parents.  He studied in England to become an orthopedic surgeon.  Then he and his wife Margaret, also a surgeon, returned to India.

Many of the patients on our hospital ships have rehab after their free surgery. And that’s where volunteers like hand therapist Chelsea Darlow come in. 

The Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem has a list of people called “the Righteous Among the Nations.”  Teresa Prekerowa is on that list.

In 2018 the Mercy Ships dental team started making dentures for people who lose their front teeth due to an extraction.  The goal is to help them eat better.  It also gives them a more socially acceptable smile.
