In this episode, Mike talks a little bit about the weather & the significance of rain (Heyoh!!! Exciting right?). Today is his Dad's birthday, so Happy Birthday to Mark Oldroyd! He also talks about the Superbowl and his friends in Philadelphia. Yay for the Eagles and Rocky Balboa & Mick. & Yay for Mike's friend Jimmy, who's birthday was on Superbowl Sabbath! Yay for the girl I met at the gay bar on Jimmy's wedding night who Mike hasn't gotten to see again! Yay for St. Nick Foles & Mike's mysterious (phantom-like) hilarious sermon deliverer friend, Nathan!
Mike also talks about an old article he was mentioned in from the St. Lous Post Dispatch with Jeremy Maclin, Jared Perry, and Danario Alexander - all who went on to play in the NFL. He talks about Mizzou Football and Gary Pinkel and Will Franklin, and some of Oldroyd's accomplishments as an individual and as a team.
Mike also talks about his recent trip to see the Michelangelo exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York City, including his artistic inspiration drawn from it. He talks about the divine touch, nan-chucks, Bruce Lee and the Ninja Turtles. He also takes you back on his trip to Europe when he visited Rome, Florence, and Venice. He met memorable people like Hironimous and Lapo. Lapo was the owner of a leather shop in Florence called Michelangelo's. Lapo's sales technique was "This is the type of jacket Brad Pitt wear!" Michelangeloldroyd discusses the possibilities of time travel and the concept of time, which he deeply contemplated during his trip to the Vatican.
Can't talk about Michelangelo without talking about love, so of course we get to listen to some funny on-line dating stories, including OkCupid. Speaking of Cupid, Valentines Day is coming soon! He ends by talking about painting, his mom's love for art, and the drawing class he took as a senior in high school that was for all freshman. He called his teacher Mrs. Crayon and took naps under the table regardless of her requests for him to go to the principle's office.
Enjoy!
