In hour 3 Andy and Randy talk about the Braves chances of winning the World Series, the Falcons search for a QB, of course: ASK ME ANYTHING.
92.9 The Game Braves insider Grant McAuley stops by to let the guys know the latest from Braves Spring Training in the Grapefruit League.
With an all new coaching staff in place, all Falcon eyes are now on the quarterback position. With the way that things worked out with former head coach Arthur Smith, the Raheem Morris regime absolutely has to get the quarterback position right, or we may be right back here in three years. But what should they do? There are some veteran quarterbacks out there that may be available, such as Kirk Cousins or Russell Wilson, but according to Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael, they should go with a younger guy. If the Falcons sign or trade for a vet, it makes their leash to success very short. Kirk Cousins is reportedly looking for a two-year deal, and if you trade for Russell Wilson, he has three years left on his current deal. Either of those might make sense if Coach Morris believes that inserting a quarterback would mean an immediate Super Bowl run. While the Falcons are poised to win soon, it may not be that soon. What they need is a quarterback that they can develop and build a system around, so that they can be successful for the next ten years, not someone that is just dropping by for a cup of coffee and done. Now they just need to figure out who that quarterback is.
Final hour of Andy & Randy (Fricke in for Andy) and the guys react to the Trae Young to everyone trade rumors coming out of the All Star Weekend.
Next, the guys talk about the moves the Braves made during the off season to sure up the pitching rotation.
Lastly, the guys end the day with a chance to “Ask Me anything”
Spring Training is off and running, and the Atlanta Braves are getting ready for a long season, that should be filled with plenty of wining, and the players know it. Several player have been outspoken about the level of expectation that they are putting on themselves, as they should be, because the expectation level is as high as it can be: WORLD SERIES OR BUST. The Braves had a nice offseason, Chris Sale and Jared Kelenic among others. Sale would be slotted as the third or fourth starter, without the pressure of having to be an ace after a few injury-riddled seasons. Jared Kelenic will likely be the every day left fielder, with low pressure to live up to the top five prospect that he once was. If either of these guys out-perform the expectations that have been out on them, then this team may be better than the 104 win season from last year. On top of that, there is a 5-way battle going on for the "fifth starter" job. This team will be good, but how good? So good, that not winning the whole thin g may just be looked upon as a failure. Randy McMichael and John Fricke discuss the expectation level of the 2024 Braves.
Andy & Randy continues with John Fricke filling in for Andy, and the guys dive into some NFL talk with a NFL “No Huddle”.
In the second segment of hour 2, the guys ask, “is 2024 World Series or Bust” for the Atlanta Braves?
And to close out the hour, we hit the Backpage with Beau Johnson
