Although the Middle Ages is known as the dark ages or medieval times, it is not the only stretch of early history known for its dark and twisted methods of torture. Torture was often used as a method not only to punish the guilty for crimes committed, but also to extract information as an interrogation method. If you look in history, you can see that before and even after the dark ages, we have found ways to continual invent unique and grotesque ways to inflict immense amounts of pain on our fellow men and woman.

The medieval times was grewsome, dark and twisted. War was started over religion and torture methods were unholy as can be. Also known as the dark ages the Middle Ages of the 5th century to the 15th century are known in history as some of the cruelest and harshest times for punishment. Many times, people would confess to crimes they did not commit just so that the pain would stop. Torturing someone was not created during this time period, but many could argue that it was perfected in this era. Some of these imaginative torture methods are so harsh and painful in nature that there is no wonder why this era in time is known as The Dark Ages.
