Although the Middle Ages is known as the dark ages or medieval times, it is not the only stretch of early history known for its dark and twisted methods of torture. The medieval times was grewsome, dark and twisted. War was started over religion and torture methods were unholy as can be. Also known as the dark ages the Middle Ages of the 5th century to the 15th century are known in history as some of the cruelest and harshest times for punishment. Many times, people would confess to crimes they did not commit just so that the pain would stop. Torturing someone was not created during this time period, but many could argue that it was perfected in this era. Some of these imaginative torture methods are so harsh and painful in nature that there is no wonder why this era in time is known as The Dark Ages.
