"An Obol for Charon" review.

"Brother" episode review. The highly-anticipated second season of Star Trek: Discovery premiered on Thursday, Jan. 17 on CBS All Access and Space; Netflix received it on Jan. 18.  In the episode, the crew of the Discovery gets a new a captain in the form of current Enterprise captain Christopher Pike, played by Anson Mount.  Pike is on Discovery to investigate seven mysterious bursts of energy spread out across half the galaxy.  In this episode of The Minnesota Star Trek Nerd Podcast, host Wes Huntington reviews the episode and reads some fan feedback on the highly-anticipated season premiere.

"The Escape Artist" Short Trek review.  The final Short Trek prior to the season premiere of Star Trek: Discovery, "The Escape Artist" dropped on Thursday, Jan. 3rd on CBS All Access and Space.  CraveTV got it Jan. 4th.  Written by Mike McMahan (now the creator of Star Trek: Lower Decks), and directed by Rainn Wilson (who also stars as Harry Mudd), the episode deals with Mudd trying to reason with a Tellarite bounty hunter.  Little does the bounty hunter know that he's being tricked. In this episode, Wes reviews the episode, and reads fan feedback.  Plus, there was a lot of Star Trek news recently, so Wes catches us up with that.
