Ellen is a risk-taker who tailors the learning to the needs of the students. "It doesn't matter the Grade you teach when you focus on real-world experiences". Learning from inquiring and having students capture their thinking when learning. The students are doing the thinking for themselves and consolidating to share the learning. Recognizing how their thinking has changed and communicating thinking.

The idea of community culture is being able to form relationships with teachers, students, parents, and administrators. It is important to present your authentic self to learn from the community and take their perspectives to be a member of a team.
