  • 142: What Leadership Looks like When It's Lived Throughout Your Life with Barry Ball

"Lead by example. Something so simple could be applied time and time again, throughout the different levels that are reached. Be the standard and inspire others to do the same." -Barry Ball

What makes one a servant leader? Leadership is not a one-time, single defining moment. As we will learn from this week's guest, leadership is a lifetime of training. Before becoming a Speakerpreneur and Leadership Enthusiast, Barry Ball played many leadership roles. Barry relates leadership lessons he learned as the oldest of nine siblings, as a cadet, as a platoon leader in the army, and most importantly, as a leader to himself. Ted and Barry discuss how to stand up as a leader amidst adversities, how to develop resiliency, how to NOT let anything define you, and how to love the entire process of growth. Life is full of surprises, some of them we describe as crazy, bad, and ugly. So the question left to answer after all these is Who are you NOW? Tune in and discover how to connect with that one thing that is greater than yourself.

"Our story is the one unique thing that we each have… Whether it's big or small, don't hide that kind of thing. That's something that makes you, YOU as an individual." -Benjamin Sklivas

What if you were born to live as another human being? Sounds as if you are in a fiction movie, doesn't it? Yet in reality, our society forces us to live according to its norms and standards. We have to follow our "prescribed titles" or we become outcasts. This week, Ted and Benjamin Sklivas share how to fit in without sacrificing who we truly are. Before becoming a digital nomad and Director of Business Development, Benjamin felt overwhelming emotions and heard every negative opinion there is about having ADHD. He also experienced loss after loss, discouragements, and failures which pushed him lower than he already felt. Listen in as he shares how he turned these adversities into his superpower and how staying unprofessionally professional helped him to advance in life and in his career. If you are dealing with ADHD or other medical conditions, Benjamin also gives crucial warnings and practical suggestions about taking medications. Own your story. Breathe your identity. Live fully!

  • How Stress Can Impact Your Immune System | Chantel Soumis Ep. 137

THE GREATEST WEAPON AGAINST STRESS IS OUR ABILITY TO CHOOSE ONE THOUGHT OVER ANOTHER.

    William James

We've all had those moments where the walls feel as though they're closing in on us. We get short of breath, the beads of sweat start to collect on our forehead, and suddenly the room is on a spin cycle.

If this has happened to you before, you know how quickly the feeling comes. Even further, you probably know how hard it can be to shake that feeling as well.

Unfortunately, so many people find themselves in a highly stressed state for an extended period of time. The results can be catastrophic!

Our brains, though amazing, are truly archaic. The fear of missing a work deadline or constantly trying to balance the budget and make bill payments gets registered the same as us being attacked by a saber-tooth tiger.

Our bodies were not made to remain under this type of stress for an extended period of time or repeated on a daily basis. Because of this, the stress in our daily lives has the potential to really take a toll on our bodies and on our immune system.

My guest today Chantel Soumis is a brand sorceress, sales and marketing magician, and an international keynote speaker. Her positive spirit and bubbly personality are sure to light up a room. (Let alone a zoom call!)

What makes this amazing woman even more remarkable is her story of perseverance and drive. Drowning in stress looking for work, trying to feed a newborn, and struggling to keep the heat on would lead to a flare-up of Multiple Sclerosis.

Losing your sight and the ability to walk is a scary and demoralizing experience at any age. For Chantel, looking at a long life ahead of her, 25 was too soon to call it quits.

Hop into today's episode and find out how Chantel was able to let go of that stress, focus on gratitude, and lean into the network of support around her. Regaining her sight in one eye and being humbled by the mobility challenges are just a few of the countless blessings she acknowledges every day.

    In this episode we discuss:

    • Turning a negative into a positive
    • Never giving up
    • Focusing on gratitude
    • Setting boundaries
    • Leaning into your support group
    • Identifying your greatest weakness

    and more!

  • How To Create Happy Wealth | Jesse Todisco Ep. 136

"IT IS NOT THE MAN WHO HAS TOO LITTLE, BUT THE MAN WHO CRAVES MORE, THAT IS POOR."

    Seneca

If money had the ability to make people happy, then the richest people in the world would be filled with joy. It doesn't take long for you to look around and quickly realize that that's simply not the case.

The truth is happiness and joy are two things money can't buy. Though money can provide you with options, choices, and reduced stress, happiness is sold separately. Sorry…

With that being said though, it doesn't mean that money is a bad thing. It also doesn't mean that finding happiness needs to be done after gathering all the tokens you can and defeating the boss at the end.

This game of life is too short to wait until the end to be happy.

Instead, what if you focused on cultivating your happiness now? What if you leaned into the hard things you've experienced in life and took the lessons from it to grow? Imagine you let yourself free from a restricting past, shed those limiting beliefs to walk into your true greatness as a human being, and started living a life full of joy, happiness, and love.

Is that something you think you would enjoy? Yeah… Me too!

Jesse Todisco exudes happiness and positivity. From the first voice message on Instagram he sent me when we first linked up, I knew this man had an energy of love, motivation, and service. I had to know, where does it come from!?

Jesse is the founder of 46 & 2 Wealth Partners, a fee-only registered investment advisory firm. He's also the host of the Jesse Tee Show, a mindset-focused podcast that teaches anyone hunting for greatness in business, health and wellness, and relationships the keys to success.

Jesse's story is so much more than just his resume. Coming out of Boston, MA Jesse learned about entrepreneurship at a young age. His foundation in buying and selling comic books and sports cards as well as shoveling snow for money in the winters would contribute to his success in entrepreneurship later in life.

Life wasn't without its struggles, though as Jesse would fight through the adversity of holding death in his hands multiple times including the loss of his daughter, Alana.

Through it all, Jesse continues to share his gifts and love with the world.

You won't want to miss today's podcast as Jesse and I discuss:

    • Being grateful for the hard parts
    • Applying ourselves more
    • Failing Faster
    • Stepping into our power

"SOMETIMES THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND YOUR JOURNEY. THEY DON'T NEED TO, IT'S NOT FOR THEM."

    Joubert Botha

Something that stops so many of us from reaching out to others in times of crisis is the potential backlash we might get from needing to reach out in the first place. How sad is it that the thing we need the most is within reach yet so far away because of the social environments we find ourselves in?

Without a safe space to feel comfortable, valued, and heard, we're bound to stay trapped in our minds, digging deeper into the depths of our subconscious and letting negative self talk take root.

  • How To Live An Extraordinary Life | Robert White Ep. 134

DON'T WAIT FOR EXTRAORDINARY OPPORTUNITIES. SEIZE COMMON OCCASIONS AND MAKE THEM GREAT. WEAK MEN WAIT FOR OPPORTUNITIES; STRONG MEN MAKE THEM.

    Orison Swett Marden

What is it about a television screen or a ton of followers that instantly separates us from the "selected few?"

You see them on billboards, in championship games, and still can't believe they threw the Lombardi trophy from one boat to the other! Man, that must be an extraordinary life…

What if I told you the life is extraordinary but the person is not?

Now before anyone goes firing off in the comments, I'm not trying to downplay the greatness of anyones accomplishments. I'm simply stating that the life someone is able to build is directly correlated to how well they can maximize their gifts.

With that being said, maybe we all have a bit of greatness within ourselves.

We just need to find that one focus, commit ourselves to the cause, and chip away at the vision one step at a time.

My guest today, Robert White is a Transformational Architect at Extraordinary People LLC and the founder of Lifespring and ARC International. Robert Knows from direct experience and studies what people confront within themselves when they go after big goals. Through his work, Robert helps people break through self-and-other-imposed barriers to success.

"WE ARE ALL CAPABLE OF INFINITELY MORE THAN WE BELIEVE. WE ARE STRONGER AND MORE RESOURCEFUL THAN WE KNOW, AND WE CAN ENDURE MUCH MORE THAN WE THINK WE CAN."

    David Blaine

If you take the time and really think about it, you'd be surprised at how many things you do every day that once intimidated us. However, once you got over that hump, it became second nature.

Babies don't sit down thinking: "Maybe this walking thing isn't for me."

No! They get back up and try again.

Unfortunately, so many of us lose this mindset as we grow up. We look at these amazing people on TV or on Social Media and think to ourselves that we could never do that.

If only you knew how wrong you were…

Today's episode is all about empowering you. This is your sign that not only can you do that thing that intimidates you so much, but you were also born to do it!

Don't wait for permission. Your time to start is now. Take the action required and I promise, you'll be shocked at what you can do.

My guest today Tracy Lamourie is the Founder and Managing Director of Lamourie Media. She's the winner of the 2020 Women of Inspiration Award for Media, and the author of the upcoming book GET REPPED – Build Your Brand With Effective Public and Media Relations.
