Nick is the co-founder of Renaissance Periodization, an evidence-based fitness company I've looked up to for years. I actually met Nick a year ago at the RP Summit in Philadelphia where I got to learn from him and the rest of his team. Just like at that summit and just like he runs his company, Nick never falls short of providing tons of value, which is what you'll learn by listening to our conversation here. Nick also has a new book out, called "Fit For Success - Lessons on Achievement and Leading Your Best Life". I got an early copy and I highly recommend you guys pick up yours AFTER listening to our chat together as we delve into a few of the principles he mentions in the book. Hope you enjoy!

This Minisode started as an email I sent out to everyone on my newsletter. After receiving quite a bit of positive feedback, I figured I'd turn it into a Minisode as well. These are rapid-fire ideas on topics like productivity, fitness, money, well-being, careers, and more. Some are broad ideas and others are super specific. Either way, it'd be hard not to take at least one thing positive away from this Minisode. Hope it helps!

It seems obvious to people that you can't just exponentially keep pushing yourself in the gym. You'll burnout or overtrain, so you have to take a break. Although it's less commonly known, you have to do the same thing when you diet. Just like how you can't keep working out harder and harder forever and expect better results, you can't keep dieting forever either. You need a diet break. And in this Minisode, I break down the 3 signs you need to pay attention to to know when you may need to push the pause button on dieting. Obviously, you don't want to simply ruin all your hard-earned progress if you've been dieting for a while and lost some fat, so you have to be smart about how you do it. I cover everything you need to know in this Minisode. Enjoy!

This is a solo episode, but I made sure to cram as much value as possible in 60 minutes. I cover each of the four skills from a conceptual perspective first, then break that down into actionable advice you can implement right away.
The 4 Must-Learn Skills:
1. How To Make & Manage Money
2. How To Make Better Decisions
3. How To Prioritize & Focus
4. How To Be Happy
To me, these are the most important skills a person can learn to improve their life. Hope you enjoy this episode!

Some people hit the genetic lottery and can grow muscle just by looking at weights. But, for most of us mortal humans, we've got to have more strategy than simply "lifting harder" to improve our weaknesses. In this Minisode, I breakdown six different ways to bring up a lagging body part that isn't gaining muscle in the proportions you'd like. Each way is backed by science and has been proven by myself and/or with people I've worked with. Hope it helps!

I had an online coaching client ask me, "at what point in a diet do you risk eating too few calories and start losing muscle mass?" It's a great question and one I don't think people consider enough. Most just worry about the number on the scale going down as fast as possible, but there's a crucial difference between WEIGHT loss and FAT loss. We want to aim for purely fat loss and retain, or build, as much muscle as possible. In this Minisode, I explain the 4 pillars I use with all my clients to do exactly that.

Robbie is back again for his second appearance on The More Than Fitness Podcast and this time we touched on the Movember Movement. Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide. Honestly, I didn't know much about it until Robbie reached out to me. He shared his experience, plus how he wanted to help the Movember Foundation and their mission. In 2019, Robbie raised $1,762 for the foundation—which is amazing.
But this year, he wants to beat that and hit $4,000 by creating a monthly workout subscription service, called "The Workout Pass". Put simply: it's like the "Netflix of Muscle" or the "Hulu For Hypertrophy". And the best part is that every dollar he makes from The Workout Pass during the month of November is going directly to Movember. You get awesome workouts AND donate to charity. Win-win. Check out the episode, then consider signing up using the link below. Enjoy! (And thank you if you choose to donate.)

You hear people say it all the time: write down your goals, visualize yourself reaching them, and do daily affirmations until you check off each one. It makes us feel good. It gives us hope. But goals can also be a crutch for not dealing with your current reality. You can put off your internal demons by simply chasing another goal.
In this Minisode, I talk about the importance of negative visualization and imagining how you'd feel if you never reached the fitness goals you're after—could you still be happy? It's important to think about, and I hope this Minisode encourages you to do just that.

Carb cycling is exactly what it sounds like: cycling your carbs on different days throughout the week. The most common approach is to eat higher carb on your lifting days, to (supposedly) promote muscle growth, and lower carb on your rest days, to (supposedly) promote fat loss.
In this Minisode, I break down the pros and cons of carb cycling, if you should (or shouldn't) use carb cycling, and how to modify it for best results. Hope it helps!

Austin, who we call "Hurley," has been one of my best friends for over a decade now. We hung out almost daily in high school and I lived with him all throughout college, so he knows me better than basically anyone else on the planet. And after my recent move to NYC, I was finally heading back home to Kentucky for a few weeks (our mutual best friend is getting married) and Hurley asked about doing a podcast together. I was 100% down, and so we recorded an episode together the night after I got in from NYC.
Well... we got a touch too excited, then ended up overshooting things and got *slightly* more intoxicated than we should have, resulting in a mediocre podcast about not much of anything. So, we decided to do round 2 and it came out WAY better. That said, if you're looking for diet advice or inspiration for building an 8-figure business, you should probably find a different episode. But if you're looking for some relatable childhood stories, pure entertainment, lots of shit-talking, and an episode to make you laugh — you've come to the right spot. Enjoy!
