Don't you wish you could stop thinking so much about your diet and simply just... eat like a "normal" person? Well, as someone who's been there, let me be the first to tell you that it's possible. You just need some proper guidance and a blueprint to get there, which is why I created this Minisode. I wanted to give the overarching stages that, in my professional experience, will lead you to finding food freedom. I came up with these four stages after thinking about what has worked with me personally, plus what's worked for the hundreds of others I've helped. If you listen closely and put in the work, I think it can help you, too.

This was honestly one of my favorite podcast episodes I've had in a while. A friend of mine recommended me to check out Emilia's work and I instantly spotted how many similarities we had in our content, yet she had more of the brains and science to back it up. Emilia has her BSc in Sports Biomedicine, an MSc in Sport and Exercise Nutrition, a PhD in Exercise Physiology, and is a Registered Nutritionist based out of the United Kingdom, where she's currently a full-time online coach.
I like her approach so much because it's the perfect middle ground — it's a mix of the "grind harder" bodybuilding space, and the anti-diet/body positive influencer space. Both sides have merit, but have glaring pitfalls when applied separately. Emilia marries the two and talks all about it in this conversation together.
Other topics include: how to accept yourself and also want to improve at the same time, the science behind compassionate and mindful eating, blaming society vs personal responsibility, her thoughts on tracking food for different goals and diet experience, and much, much more. You won't want to miss this one.

At this point, it's clear that our top priority for getting in shape is being consistent with our diet and exercise. If you want better and quicker results, you need to focus on increasing your adherence on a weekly basis. But that's easier said than done. That is, unless, you listen to this Minisode and take notes on the 3-step process I outline.
I try to break down how to stop thinking so much and to start doing, how to make doing the right thing as easy as possible, and how to track your success to know if what you're doing is working or not. Hope you enjoy!

I've been in the fitness game long enough and have coached enough people at this point to know what is holding most people back from getting the body they want. It's not lack of motivation or desire—people WANT to change—but they aren't asking themselves the right questions.
In this Minisode, I break down what questions you should be asking yourself to achieve the goals you want, along with WHY you want to reach those goals, specifically. And if you don't even know what your goals *should* be in the first place, I have some ideas on how to figure that out as well. By the end of this Minisode, you should have multiple clear action steps you need to start taking right away to set yourself on the path in the right direction (and why that direction is right for *you*). Enjoy!

I've got another glorious in-person conversation for you guys today with my buddy, Ryan. We both live in NYC, he's also an online fitness coach, and we have some mutual friends, so I knew that was the recipe for a great potential episode together. So after a full day of shooting photos in the city with our friend Rico, we decided to head back up to the apartment, fuel up with some bagels and energy drinks, then sit down to have this chat.
It turned out better than I could've hoped and we covered a few topics, such as: Ryan's backstory of moving from Connecticut to NYC, how he held three jobs at once before he knew what career he wanted to pursue, why he's been in and out of therapy for the last few years, how COVID affected his mental health and his business (and what he did about it), how he started working with the FOX News Network, what his goals are now, what hobbies he's interested in, making his SECOND music album, losing his tooth, and much much more.
Ryan is a genuine dude and I'm happy I got the chance to get to know him a bit better from this episode together — I hope it helps you do the same. Enjoy!

I'm a firm believer that fitness should make your life better, not worse. But so many people are treating their fitness goals as something they are "compelled" to stick to, no matter what. This creates an unhealthy relationship when eating healthy and exercising becomes something you NEED to do, instead of something you WANT to do.
So in this Minisode, I wanted to talk about how to work *with* yourself to reach your fitness goals, not against yourself. Life is already hard enough without berating yourself for not hitting your calorie goal or workout for the day. I share my best tips, along with a story, in this Minisode to help you out. Enjoy, and go easy on yourself for once.

I don't always follow an exact prescription for my workouts. Meaning, I don't always do the same exercises, sets, and reps, week after week. Instead, I like to follow particular principles and methods for how I structure them.
The principles are simple: effectiveness and fun.
As long as the workouts are actually allowing me to make progress and I don't hate being in the gym, then I know I'm on the right track. The methods are slightly more nuanced, which I cover in this Minisode. Plus, I finish out giving some examples of how I'd structure and upper and lower workout using those exact methods. Hope you enjoy it!

I've been following Chad for a while now on Instagram and I'm stoked to have finally had the chance to sit down and chat. Chad's an online fitness coach and has been in the game for a few years now, but he didn't start out in the online fitness space.
In the beginning of the episode, we talked about the multiple jobs he held after college and how he would be reading fitness textbooks in his spare time while on the job. Then we touch on how he transitioned to his first personal trainer gig at a semi-private gym, where he eventually got fired (I share my own personal firing story, too). After we chatted about his break into the online space, we talked about the recent pandemic and Chad shared how hard it affected him from a mental standpoint. He talks about how bad it got for him, then what happened to help him get through it. After that, towards the ~35-minute mark, Chad shares a hilarious story about his former roommate, which caught me completely off guard. And lastly, we dive into social media and his new TikTok endeavors. It was a super fun episode and I can't wait for you guys to listen. Enjoy!

The most boring and effective fitness tip you could ever hear, summed up in one phrase: get better sleep.
Before you roll your eyes at the 167th time you've heard someone preach to you about this, hear me out. We all KNOW we should get better sleep, yet there's still some type of mental block from making that happen. My guess would be two things: 1) we don't think the negative effects of poor sleep are actually that bad because we don't know *specifically* how much sleep affects our fitness goals. And, 2) we don't have the practical applications to put the dream of "better sleep" into action.
In this Minisode, I'll cover both, starting with two studies that make blatantly obvious the negative effects of poor sleep, and ending with 20 tactical ways to get better sleep starting tonight. Enjoy! (And get your ass to bed.)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels a tiny bit of frustration when waking up the day after a hard workout and not feeling sore. Some of my online coaching clients will tell me they don’t feel they’ve done enough if they don’t feel sore the next day — but is that the truth?
In this Minisode, I cover:
-What causes muscle soreness (the "For Dummies" edition)?
-Is muscle soreness correlated with muscle growth?
-What are the indicators that your workouts are effective (or not)?
-Should we feel sore on a regular basis? And if yes, how sore?
-Can too much soreness hinder muscle growth?
-How to structure your workouts in a week to maximize growth and minimize (bad) soreness.
-And more!
