One of my favorite episodes yet due to how much I look up to Jonathan, but also because of the topics we touched on. I am becoming more and more obsessed with "lifestyle design" and Jon is my go-to role model for this as of late. Not only has he designed his business in a way that allows him to maximize profits and freedom, but he's also designed his life with that same efficiency in mind.
I've followed Jonathan for years and watched as he's run a very profitable business (The Personal Training Development Center), written several books, and traveled the world with his wife and son. Most importantly, Jon looks like he's having fun—with his business, friends, family, etc. And as far as benchmarks go for role models, that's a pretty good one in my book. Can't wait for you to hear this one.
His bio: Jonathan Goodman is the founder of the Personal Trainer Development Center and Online Trainer Academy Certification. He’s authored 11 books and lived in 10 countries. You can listen to him host the hilarious and educational Online Trainer Show on iTunes, Spotify, or YouTube.

This Minisode was a quickie, but packed with value. I took 13 tips from my Fun Sh*t Friday email newsletters and condensed them into a single podcast, with rapid-fire style. The tips cover muscle gain, fat loss, general health, mood regulation, goal setting, environment, consistency, cooking, and much more. Hope you enjoy!

Intermittent Fasting is a popular diet where people tend to fast for 12-16 hours and have an eating window of 8-12 hours. It's most commonly used by people who enjoy eating less frequent, but larger meals at a time. This makes it convenient for those with busy schedules and works well for many people. The question, however, is do the benefits outweigh the costs? For some of you, it may. For others, not so much.
In this Minisode, I wanted to lay out all the pros and cons and allow you to decide for yourself. Hope you enjoy!

I was born and raised in Ashland, Kentucky, which has a population of about 20,000 people. My girlfriend was born in a small fishing village in Iceland, which has a population of about 2,000 people. In less than a month, we're both moving to New York City, which has roughly 9,000,000 people within a few miles. Suffice it to say, things should get interesting.
In this episode, we wanted to share why we're moving, what we're afraid of, why it's probably going to change our life, why it's important to break the old patterns you grew up with, living in different cultures, and much more. I know this episode may not get as many listens, but it was a fun one and I think we hit on a few topics that would be useful to anyone, but especially younger people our age (mid-twenties).
If you've ever thought of moving to The Big Apple or if you're interested in following along with us during our move, I think you'll really enjoy this one.

As I like to do at times, I'm going completely outside of the fitness space in today's Minisode. I called it The More Than Fitness Podcast for a reason, and today's topic is an example why.
Unless you are/were a business or finance major in college, you likely didn't learn much about money growing up. Credit cards, Roth or traditional IRA's, conscious spending habits, budgets, and all of that fun stuff weren't ever discussed with me until I started to search for it myself. One of the best books I've found so far is by Ramit Sethi: I Will Teach You To Be Rich. Don't worry, even he makes fun of the title, but the book is packed with value nonetheless.
In this Minisode, I wanted to touch on one of his concepts in that book, which he calls "money dials." This concept changed my outlook on what I should or shouldn't feel guilty spending money on, along with the best way to go about it. Again, I'm no expert, but this book has absolutely helped me with handling my money without limiting my life. This Minisode dives a little deeper into how. Hope you enjoy!

Since the beginning of time, sugar has been one of the most demonized sources of energy. People ask: Is sugar bad for you? If yes, is fruit bad for you? What about if you consume it post-workout? Does sugar make you fat? Can you eat sugar on a diet? How much can you eat each day? And the list goes on and on.
So, I wanted to clear the air as much as I could during this Minisode. I didn't cover absolutely everything about sugar, but I covered the basic questions above and gave some practical advice on how to enjoy sugar in moderation.
As many will try to convince you, I don't think it's the devil. But I also don't think we should purposefully see how much sugar we can "get away with" in our diets. There's always a middle ground. Check it out and I hope you enjoy.

We're seven months into one of the craziest years in a long time. We're all doing our best. Times are uncertain and it's almost as if 2020 has trap doors waiting for us around every turn. So I wanted to do a solo podcast on how I've been navigating things like my health, my mood, my career, my hobbies, my emotions, my relationships, etc.
More than anything, 2020 has given me clarity on what's important and what's not. It's forced me to step my shit up because you never know when something like Coronavirus is going to hit. It's made me mentally reset and "trim the fat" on what I should or shouldn't be focusing on, and that's what I wanted to discuss in this podcast episode.
I also wanted to do a brief announcement on my new product I'm launching, Automated Fitness 2.0, which you can learn more about below.
It was fun to finally do one of these solo podcasts again and I hope you can find at least one gold nugget in here to make your life better. Enjoy!

As I've gotten older and my priorities change, I'm not able to work out and eat as healthy as I used to. When I was in college, it was easier to make it to the gym 5-6 days a week and track every calorie I consumed. I was like a machine. But now—with bills, travel, relationship, career, and hobbies—fitness has taken a back seat by necessity.
The issue is that my priorities have changed, but my expectations haven't. I still want to look, feel, and move better than the average person, but I still want a life. So I've had to find the middle ground, and that's what this Minisode is about.
Particularly, my new product, Automated Fitness 2.0, was the solution I've been looking for. It's helped me make fitness as effortless as possible, almost like putting it on autopilot. And if what I'm saying sounds like something you struggle with, too, then you should click the link below to learn more.

We all know that some things are more important for our progress than others. We know that monitoring how many calories we eat each day is probably more important for fat loss than a diet pill. Or, that consuming enough protein each day is more important for muscle growth than taking creatine. But, what about the more nuanced topics, like meal timing and nutrient timing? Some people say it matters a lot, while others say it doesn't matter at all.
In this Minisode, I try to cover it all: how much nutrient timing ACTUALLY matters, how many meals per day, how long between meals, if you need to worry about post-workout high glycemic carbs, intermittent fasting downsides, why your meal timing might cause you to LOSE muscle mass, and much more. Hope it helps!

This week, Kyle is returning on the podcast for another epic conversation together. For those who don't know, he is a strength and physique coach, podcaster, elite powerlifter, and author. His latest book, Strength Training For Beginners, is now available for purchase and I can't recommend it enough if it's up your avenue.
As we mention in this episode, it's becoming rarer and rarer these days for authors to walk the walk AND talk the talk, but Kyle meets all the standards for being more than qualified to write a book like this. I think after you listen to this one, you'll understand why and even consider picking up a copy.
In this episode, we cover: getting motivated during quarantine with limited equipment, getting creative with our workouts to keep things interesting, what we did (or didn't do) for our personal workouts, funneling ideas from non-fitness topics into fitness lessons, the domino effect of benefits from having good technique in the gym, Kyle deep dives into what to expect from his new book, and much more.
