I have big goals in 2020, but I know these goals will never become a reality if I don't take care of myself first. I'm not trying to be the pinnacle of health or anything, but there are some daily and weekly habits I've been implementing (backed by anecdotal and scientific evidence) regularly that I can tell are making a positive difference in my physique, mood, and overall happiness.
In this episode, I discuss those exact 9 habits that you can pick from to apply to your life right away. Hope you enjoy.

The Natty Pro RETURNS for another amazing chat on The More Than Fitness Podcast.
We kick off 2020 properly by delving into Ryan's headspace at the moment and what he has his sights set on accomplishing by the end of the year. Ryan is 32 and I'm 26, so I never hesitate to ask him plenty of questions of why he's doing what he's doing to see if I can accelerate my own learning curve. Luckily, Ryan never fails to bring the wisdom, so I was able to leave the chat with plenty of advice that I think will resonate with every single person that listens to this one. You definitely don't want to miss it.

The pendulum is constantly swinging in nutrition - people demonized fat for years, but recently it has swung back to carbohydrates. Low carb, keto, and even carnivore diets (only meat) are becoming more and more popular as people eat bacon on everything and worship coconut oil. BUT, are carbohydrates and insulin really the devil? Do you have to give up bread forever? Is sugar as dangerous as cocaine? In my professional opinion as a Registered Dietitian, no, but what do I know? Find out for yourself in this episode as I break down 5 reasons why you SHOULD be eating carbs every single day if you want to look, feel, and perform your best. Enjoy!

Having outcome goals (lose 15 lbs, add 30 lbs to your deadlift, improve your bloodwork, etc.) are great because they give you long-term direction. But, what about the short-term? What guides you, specifically, on a daily basis? You need daily process goals so you can improve your consistency and gain clarity on what you need to do TODAY.
In this Minisode, I give you examples from the exact habit-based point system I use with my 1:1 coaching clients to lose fat without counting calories. You may want to take notes on this one. Enjoy!

Richard has been one of my longest friends and he's my first hometown friend that I've had on the podcast. We decided to have a couple of drinks, set up the mic, and just hope for the best. He's 25 years old, currently in school, and he's on the journey to becoming a doctor. He's (by far) the most eccentric friend I have and he could entertain a brick wall by talking to it, so I knew he'd be great for the podcast. I know that there are not as many people that will listen to this one since it was a more selfish episode, but I can promise you that this one will catch your attention within the first 5 minutes. It was genuinely a blast and I hope that shows once you listen to it. Enjoy!

Well, you can't because he's weird and doesn't have any social media. Completely off the grid.

Introducing: Minisodes.
Yep, it's exactly what it sounds like - a mini-episode. And on this Minisode, I go over a cognitive skill I've been trying to develop better in 2020. I got the inspiration for this skill from Sam Harris and his mediation app, Waking Up. In the app, there's a lesson about how to "begin again" and wipe your past clean so you can focus on the now. Sam speaks about using it to deal with anxiety, avoid overwhelm, and even to have the best lifting session of your life. Hope you enjoy!

Obviously I had to kick off 2020 with one of my best and wisest buds. Austin and I are almost always on the same wavelength and this podcast was no exception. He makes me think differently, so I never hesitate to run by whatever current thoughts or problems I'm dealing with to see what introspection he has to offer.
In this episode, we discuss the importance of genuine conversations, stealing from mentors, the journey over the destination, when to work harder and when to pull back, how to live a good life, and much more. Enjoy!

A retrospective is when you look back on past events to identify what worked...and what didn't work. A retrospective helps you celebrate your wins and identify your weaknesses. It helps you learn from the past and correct for the future.
In this retrospective, I focused on answering 3 questions:
1. What's working? ("What did I do right? What am I proud of?")
2. What's not working? (“What could be improved? What are my biggest opportunities for growth?”)
3. How can I fix what’s not working for a better result? (“What specific things can I focus on next time?”)

Josiah is an online fitness coach, an author, a podcaster, and a father to two adorable boys. This was my first real chat with him and his story is incredible. He started out thinking he was going to go to law school to one day become a lawyer. Then, after playing college baseball, he had an identity crisis when he realized he wasn't going to go to the major leagues. Finally, after multiple odd jobs in sales, he started working as a personal trainer at a gym he would describe as similar to "The Wolf of Wall Street." All of this on top of coming from an abusive childhood. Despite having all odds against him, he's had success for years as a coach and prides himself on being the father to his kids that he never had. It was a pleasure talking to him and you won't wanna miss it.

My lovely friends Carter and Kaylin were kind enough to invite me to their apartment over the weekend for some quality bonding time. It was our first time meeting in person, but we hit it off as if we'd known each other for years. To get the conversational juices flowing, we shared a few glasses of Cabernet and then recorded one helluva podcast together. We started off with a Silly Goose Time and things got DEEP towards the end of the episode, so make sure you listen all the way through. I have a feeling this won't be the last DrunkCast we all record together, but I hope you enjoy this one until we collaborate once again. Cheers!
