We begin with the latest from Ukraine. We catch up with Global News National Reporter Mike Armstrong who is currently in Lviv, Ukraine. Mike gives us an update on the Russian invasion and the continuing exodus of citizens from the war-torn country – which now totals over 2 million refugees.

Today is “International Women’s Day,” we kick things off by hearing details on the 2022 “Gender Index Report,” chronicling the inequalities between men and women from work, to politics and even food security.

Then, we look at women in business. We speak with Sarah Steele, Director of Small Business at Visa Canada, to discuss the many challenges women entrepreneurs face, when launching a new business.

Finally, we ‘raise our glass’ to Turner Valley’s “Eau Claire Distillery.” We speak with ‘Master Distiller’ Caitlin Quinn for details on a special single malt whisky being produced by her team to recognize “International Women’s Day” and at the same time, help out the “Women In Need Society”.

Next, we continue our conversation on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We speak with Oleksandra Matviichuk, Head of the ‘Center for Civil Liberties’ in Ukraine. Oleksandra gives us an ‘emotional’ description of what it’s like to be in a country currently under siege.

Then, we switch gears and take a look at last week’s “interest rate bump” announced by the Bank of Canada, and what this means to the finances of the average Calgarian. We get some advice on how to lessen the impact of the increase, from Marie Kozlowski, Licensed Insolvency Trustee and Vice President of “BDO Debt Solutions”.

After more than a week, Ukrainians in Kyiv continue to push-back against Russian forces.  With a firsthand account of what is happening in the Ukrainian capital, we were joined this morning by  Oleksandra Matviichuk...head of the Center for Civil Liberties, Ukraine. 

We begin with a look at the war in Ukraine, through the eyes of a Calgary man who’s traveled to the region to fight the Russian attack, alongside the Ukrainian people. We speak with Paul Hughes, who has made his way to the city of Lviv.

Next, we head stateside for our weekly conversation with Jackson Proskow, Washington Bureau Chief for Global News. Jackson ‘breaks down’ a busy week in the US, with President Joe Biden’s ‘State of the Union’ address and the latest on the American stance on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Ukraine needs help and some Canadians are answering the call. This morning, we connected with Calgarian Paul Hughes -- farmer & former member of the Princess Patricia Light Infantry. Paul is in Lvis, Ukraine looking to join up with the Ukrainian forces.
