A review of the World Rally Championship has long been overdue here at The Motorsport REView, and what better rally could there be to kick off with than the Rallye Monte Carlo - the most prestigious rally of the calendar. The iconic rally kickstarts the WRC season along treacherous ice covered mountain roads, and features a fan favourite super special stage on the streets most will recognise from the Monaco Grand Prix.

Resident rally enthusiast David returns to discuss the events with Perry, including both a look back at the 2025 season, a look ahead to the rest of 2026, and beyond! It was fair to say that the 2026 edition of the Monte Carlo Rally was a classic given the difficult conditions faced by the drivers, and the standout full debut for Oliver Solberg - definitely a name to keep an eye on in the future.

The winter period is incredibly important for junior racing drivers - recharging, signing sponsors, and... racing? Yes the best way to keep those driving and racing skills from getting rusty over the off season is to keep on racing, and the Formula Winter Series provides a great setting for young drivers to do so!

Set across Portugal and Spain in Formula 4 machinery, the Formula Winter Series is a support event to the Winter GT Series. Round 2 was set around the utterly stunning Portimao circuit in predictably cold and wet conditions, with over 30 yound drivers looking to hone their skills ahead of Formula 4 campaigns around the globe. Perry is joined by up and coming commentator Omi to discuss all the action from the 3 races of round 2, and look ahead both to the remaining rounds of Formula Winter Series and beyond!

Our first review of 2026 takes us back to the Dakar Rally, the world's toughest motorsport event bar none. 13 stages over 15 days kick start the year as cars, bikes, and trucks attempt to navigate 7,900km of the rocky and sandy terrain of the Saudi Arabian desert.

The Dakar Rally was my favourite "discovery" of our 2025 reviews. There is something truly magic about this journey and the cameraderie shared by all of the competitors, and yet the very real dangers of traversing a desert landscape always loom. My navigator through the dunes was motorsport superfan David, who each year creates a handy guide to the Dakar Rally for new fans, exactly like myself! Has the 2025 Formula 1 season really finished already? 24 races FLEW by and of course it was McLaren and Lando Norris that have claimed the Championships - who could have predicted that? Well prior to the season beginning, myself and Keith tried to do exactly that! But how did we do?

In the second half of the season review, we look at the top 5 teams of 2025. Surprises, disappointments, mid-season personnel swaps, and one of the all time great drivers tries to overcome the greatest points deficit a World Champion would ever face. Surely not eve Verstappen could do it, could he? We also find out the final results from Perry and Keith's pre-season predictions, could Keith overcome the 4 point deficit from part 1?

As discussed towards the end of the last episode, a wonderful young girl called Alayah has turned adversity in her own life and turned it into a strength to help others. She has spent her spare time to make "Foot Doon Lando" bracelets that she has been selling to raise money for Heel and Toe Charity, a Children's charity in the North East of England raising money to help children with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities. Somehow, some disgusting people have posted some vile comments and messages simply for being a Lando Norris fan.
