The beginning of the new Formula 1 era has come under a lot of criticism both from within the paddock and by the fans alike. Is the new power unit too complicated to understand, and is the racing becoming artificial? We didn't have long to wait before we got towards the answers as round 2 of the 2026 Championship follows immediately and gives us the first sprint weekend of the season no less!

Discussing the form guide and what we have made of the racing so far, Perry is joined by Eddie to give their early verdict on the new 2026 regulations. Does F1 and the FIA have a number of issues they need to step in to address, and if so how long do they wait? And what did we make of young Kimi Antonelli's first Grand Prix victory?

A review of the World Rally Championship has long been overdue here at The Motorsport REView, and what better rally could there be to kick off with than the Rallye Monte Carlo - the most prestigious rally of the calendar. The iconic rally kickstarts the WRC season along treacherous ice covered mountain roads, and features a fan favourite super special stage on the streets most will recognise from the Monaco Grand Prix.

Resident rally enthusiast David returns to discuss the events with Perry, including both a look back at the 2025 season, a look ahead to the rest of 2026, and beyond! It was fair to say that the 2026 edition of the Monte Carlo Rally was a classic given the difficult conditions faced by the drivers, and the standout full debut for Oliver Solberg - definitely a name to keep an eye on in the future.

The winter period is incredibly important for junior racing drivers - recharging, signing sponsors, and... racing? Yes the best way to keep those driving and racing skills from getting rusty over the off season is to keep on racing, and the Formula Winter Series provides a great setting for young drivers to do so!

Set across Portugal and Spain in Formula 4 machinery, the Formula Winter Series is a support event to the Winter GT Series. Round 2 was set around the utterly stunning Portimao circuit in predictably cold and wet conditions, with over 30 yound drivers looking to hone their skills ahead of Formula 4 campaigns around the globe. Perry is joined by up and coming commentator Omi to discuss all the action from the 3 races of round 2, and look ahead both to the remaining rounds of Formula Winter Series and beyond!

Our first review of 2026 takes us back to the Dakar Rally, the world's toughest motorsport event bar none. 13 stages over 15 days kick start the year as cars, bikes, and trucks attempt to navigate 7,900km of the rocky and sandy terrain of the Saudi Arabian desert.

The Dakar Rally was my favourite "discovery" of our 2025 reviews. There is something truly magic about this journey and the cameraderie shared by all of the competitors, and yet the very real dangers of traversing a desert landscape always loom. My navigator through the dunes was motorsport superfan David, who each year creates a handy guide to the Dakar Rally for new fans, exactly like myself!
