The Australian mountains are a magical region according to Cam Walker, he shares his connection. He has a blog called the Mountain Journal, which captures a lot of Australian mountain related topics. The Australian Backcountry Festival out of Mt Hotham, in Victoria is run by Cam. This chat also discusses some environmental issues which affect the Australian Alpine region. This leads to Cam sharing of his experiences as a volunteer firefighter for the CFA where he helped defended the fires which ripped through the alpine regions in Australia earlier in 2020. He was up at Mt Hotham defending the fires which nearly took Dinner Plain in Victoria in early January.

Cam's love for the mountains and nature is infectious.

From seeing a snowboard in Tracks Surf Magazine to inventing snowboards for Australian mountains, to fighting for snowboarding to be allowed in resorts. Thor Prohaska had a vast influence in the evolution of snowboarding becoming mainstream in Australia. His journey started out with inventing snowboards in Australia in the early 1980s which lead to fighting for snowboarding to be allowed in the Victorian resorts in Australia. They were banned. Causing the formation of the Snowboard Riders of Victoria, he was the first president. All the while this promoted and helped build the snowboarding landscape in Australia.

This also leads to a discussion about the connection between experiences in the mountain resorts and politics.

Ski friends are the best friends. Buller Rork grew up in Jackson, WY, America and is stoked on skiing.

A conversation covering topics in relation to what it is like to live and grow up in a mountain town, moving away for college, Buller's head injury, his stint as a ski instructor for one season, when he got his Jackson Hole Air Force patch and what the whole movement means to him. As well as the idea of the Rendezvous Mountain Pirates, the ski group Buller and his other friends started.

Along with a discussion on what the winter in Jackson Hole Mountain Resort could look like for 2020/21 and season pass dilemmas.

The small Australian snow clothing brand mostly sells t-shirts, hoodies, beanies and stickers. But the products have some really cute Australian animals and other cool graphs printed onto them.

In this chat Carson Haynes, the founder of Shaka Snow Co discusses how he became a snowboarder and how that lead him to starting the company. We get to know Carson and what it is like running a small business while working full time, where the inspiration for Shaka Snow Co came from, why supporting small business is so important and most importantly what Carson loves about the mountains.

Chat with Co-founders of the Ski Instructor Diaries, about why they started this website and why they are filling a necessary gap in the ski industry.

Oriane Lister and Georgina Cunningham are two pretty new ski instructors who only have a couple of seasons under their belt but, don't let that fool you. They have been writing about things which most if not all other snowsports instructors can relate to. There were no other independent websites about being a ski instructor. They launched the site in June 2020 so they are just at the beginning of their journey in this space, but the girls tell me they have been getting some great traction and support from people around the world.

In this chat we get to know them and why they started the site as well as touching on ski instructing being a legitimate career path. A relatable and insightful chat for those in the industry.
