  • 2022 May - 'New Mtn Sounds Episode' - Come hear Paul Babin share thoughts on Moving to Lookout from Buckhead, Engineering for college students, biking the Mountain, joining LMPC and Taps Across America this Memorial Day

    Join us for this episode of tME and hear how new(er) residents Paul and Pam Babin chose to leave the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta behind and move to Lookout Mountain in 2020.  They chose 'us' for many reasons and in this episode, hear Paul talk about life in the big city, his family, and the factors that helped them ultimately choose Lookout. They are so glad they did and they are fully enjoying our town and have joined LMPC.

    Also hear about how engineering is a great field of study for young college folks today with even greater opportunities going forward. Paul talks in good detail about biking on the mountain, good trails and a super, local club for people to consider who want to ride with a group. 

    Dr. Babin (PhD) also shares about a special event for him and one that will be celebrated nationally on Memorial Day at 3pm. Paul will be organizing a local, Lookout Mtn. location for residents to stop by briefly and pay respect for fallen service members as he plays Taps at the 3pm hour. Please stay tuned via the neighborhood FB page for updates on the location for the May 30 event.

    Hear why Milly Rawlings is a mountain treasure herself in this episode where Milly sits down with the Mountain Echo and shares with listeners about her life, living in Nashville, being an Army wife and then coming to Lookout Mountain. She and her husband Peter, a popular local pediatrician have raised three amazing, servant-leader children here in this community and now Milly is a leader with our local version of the neighborhood Welcome Wagon concept with, The Outlook Club. This club uses a play on words to name the effort and group of residents who welcome new members into our community. She has some great ideas about how all residents can support this effort of hospitality.
    Also hear about how Milly herself served young folks for three decades at a prominent local college-prep school and how she still "loves people" today.  Join us for this wonderful episode filled with hope and positive energy for the world as one of our true mountain leaders shares her thoughts.     This quick episode is concerning a cherished tradition of the entire Lookout Mountain community - The Fairyland Festival. Join in and hear from one of the many organizers, and school parent, Carla Zink as she shares her excitement about the return of this incredibly fun event for the first time since 2019 - three years ago! Hear about the different booths and the many food choices and about how this entire effort helps to fund the school education fund that does so much good for the school. Carla is fun to listen to as she paints a really good picture of what to expect and hear her strong invitation for community members to plan for dinner at the festival by taking advantage of the many different option and to help increase the financial success of the event.   • 2022 April: Meet Hugh Morrow and hear him keep Lookout, "in the know" on "Battle Below the Clouds" BBQ event Sat April 23 at Ruby Falls

    Join Hugh, President and CEO of Ruby Falls and 60 yr mountain resident, for a super fun and informative episode regarding a very important issue - pediatric cancer. Hugh along with Jim and Cindy Webster of The Barn Nursery fame along with a huge team of folks will host the 7th annual fundraiser in honor and loving memory of brave Lana Beth Webster. The two-live-band event will feature 12 teams battling it out for top honors and it is a FREE event to attend. NEWS: Lookout's very own, Love Lookout Team will be one of the 12 teams competing so by all means stop and take in the sounds and smells and maybe tastes of Freedom as we all pull together to honor and support this very worthy cause. The event and parking are both free of charge.  Next Saturday (April 23rd, 2022) - all day long fun. Stop by and show support and enjoy yourself at this fun event - and if you do - be sure and cheer on Team Love Lookout with Ross Ballenger and gang!     Damn the man is good, said all! I enjoyed the time spent just listening to him, "The Dreamer" as his equally impressive wife Ann describes him. Howard goes in fascinating, courtroom like cadence as he weaves his tale from New Albany - Mississippi to Lookout Mountain and A LOT in between. Wow. He is one busy fella! Watch out! Don't hit him! He is often biking UP Lookout, yes I said up, not down. Howard gives us some of his time to talk about yoga and helps share great insight for folks wanting to know more about it. He also shares some very good info on bikes and cycling on and around Lookout and where folks can find good bike shops. Howard shares some very cool info from MS on Oxford and Faulkner and how his family touched this part of American history. And, Howard shares his love of poetry and books and even reads a portion of his latest work. What a great podcast for the community to hear and learn from ,and what a fine gentleman he is to share his thoughts with us. 
    Well done Howard Brown, well done indeed Sir.
