Lord of the Rings Actors in Other Films continues as Mark and Jeff weez every last bit of grindage out of Encino Man.  So cool your nugs and chill your melons, and don't harsh our gig so hardcore cruster.

Encino Man was directed by Les Mayfield and stars our LOTR star Sean Astin (Dave) who finds a caveman while digging a pool.  He and his friend Pauly Shore (Stoney) are surprised to find the cave man is very much alive and looks like that guy from The Mummy.

After a rough few weeks, Jeff selected the first movie for August's theme, movies staring Lord of the Rings actors.  With a run time of 1h 35m Dredd wastes zero time blowing things up and passing judgement on the citizens of Mega City One.  Carl Urban helms the... uh... helm of Judge Dredd, and along the new recruit Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), they try to take down dangerous drug kingpin, Ma-Ma (Lena Headey).

In this episode, Mark & Jeff finish off the month of "Comedians in Serious Roles" July 2021 with the 2001 film The Majestic.  Directed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist) and starring Jim Carrey, Martin Landau, and Laurie Holden.  Tune in to find out how we liked this one...was it a hit?  Did Jeff hate it (like he hates all things that are good)?  Do we talk politics in a new segment "Politics Corner"?  You won't find out until you listen!

Film synopsis from IMDB...

"In 1951, a blacklisted Hollywood writer gets into a car accident, loses his memory and settles down in a small town where he is mistaken for a long-lost son."

Our theme this month (July) is comedic actors in serious roles.  This weeks movie has all the prosthetics you could hope for.  Mark Ruffalo puts them team on his back as he coaches wrestling at Foxcatcher ranch for an eccentric millionaire. Steve Carell who normally brings the laughs instead serves up a plate of cringe.  Jeff picked this movie to teach Mark not to tell him what movies to pick, and it backfired big time.

In this episode, Jeff chastises Mark on his grammar (it's a weekly thing); they review the Christopher Nolan film Insomnia, which is a remake of a 1997 Norwegian film of the same name; and you get "Police Corner" (which is apparently a thing).

Synopsis from IMDB..."Two Los Angeles homicide detectives are dispatched to a northern town where the sun doesn't set to investigate the methodical murder of a local teen."

Starring Al Pacino, Robin Williams, Hillary Swank, and Martin Donovan.

Run time is 1 hour 58 minutes
