The Mr. Warren Hayes Show, a pro wrestling podcast

Today, we talk about the beautiful and touching AEW Dyanmite tribute show to PAC, on September 30, 2026. I don't know if it's a review, but I do want to chat about it. AEW is so good at these shows, I hope I never see one again. Join me, if you'd like.

This week's episode starts on a difficult note. PAC, Benjamin Satterly, passed away suddenly at 40, the day after performing in a ring. Warren shares his memories and what made him one of the most special wrestlers of his generation.

Then: AEW All Out and NJPW Destruction in Kobe reviews, and the Janelle Grant headlines that wrestling media got badly wrong.

AEW Dynamite's go-home show for All Out had good wrestling on it. But, despite it all, too much of this show felt like it was produced by people with a very specific other employer on their résumé.

⏱️ What we cover:

- The Swerve and New Level opening segment talked down to me

- The TLC match face-to-face put tables and ladders and chairs around the ring so you'd understand what a tables and ladders and chairs match is

- Tommaso Ciampa promo'ing Kazuchika Okada fired me up

Were you annoyed at bits of Dynamite this week or was it just me? Let me know in the comments!

CMLL held its anniversary show this week, in which Místico vs Averno and Soberano Jr. vs Bandido were two of the best CMLL matches of 2026. Also, Mara Sade is apparently All Elite, Kota Ibush gave an injury update. Oh, and Paul Levesque got an advance copy of a book and thinks he read it.

⏱️ What we cover:

• CMLL 93 Aniversario review, and why the best singles rivalries deserved more room than they got

• Mara Sade's AEW signing, and whether CMLL's luchadores being back on the MLW roster page means the partnership is back on
• The "too much wrestling" argument is a content creator problem only CONFIRMED thanks to All Out and Worlds Collide

What was your match of the night at the Aniversario? Let me know in the comments!

AEW Dynamite from Norfolk was a nice little show. The booking direction of all these tag teams as well as the trios division feels strange, and the Death Riders seem to have made a very clear statement about where things are headed.

⏱️ What we cover:

- Why the tag team and trios situation is making the booking feel oddly directionless right now

- Puka shell necklaces

- Death Riders vs United Empire closing segment and why Blood and Guts feels like it is the way

Do you think Death Riders vs United Empire is the right direction for Blood and Guts? Drop it below.

It is contract season apparently: Ilja Dragunov is AEW bound, Bayley is back on Raw but her contract situation still unclear, and on top of all that, Netflix praised WWE the same day Raw fell out of their top 10. And more!

⏱️ What we cover:

- Reports confirm that Ilja Dragunov is headed to AEW and his ceiling there is extremely high

- Bayley returns to Raw as two credible reports contradict each other on her contract status

- The Netflix WWE comedy of errors

Who do you want to see Ilja Dragunov fight first in AEW? Drop it below.

A very emotionally-charged edition of AEW Dynamite took place on September 9, 2026, as the company showed their love for Rebel while also dealing with the death of "The Butcher" Andy Williams. The emotional weight that hung over everything made this one of the most charged Dynamites in a long time.

⏱️ What we cover:

- The Rebel tribute segment and everything AEW did right on this night

- The Andy Williams memorial and Excalibur barely holding it together on commentary

- Steven Borden's debut, and the rest of the night's wrestling
