A more personal episode, and it's a bold statement, but it's true. Back in February this year, I had an ectopic pregnancy and it was through masturbating and having an orgasm that the cramping started and I sought medical attention in the first place. So, masturbation really did save my life.

How do you heal sexual shame? Phew, that's a big, meaty question, and while I don't have all the answers, I have some very practical advice based both on my own personal journey of healing my own sexual shame, and professionally. I believe the most potent antidote to sexual shame is overt celebration, along with education, affirming spaces, treating yourself with tenderness and care, and going slowly.
