1. South Afrika – Zambia

Zambia is mourning the death of former President Edgar Lungu, who passed away on yesterday in South Afrika at the age of 68.

ZAMBIA and the rest of the Southern African Development Community region have been plunged into mourning following the death of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu yesterday.

2. USA – African Union

The African Union has expressed its concern over US President Donald Trump’s new travel ban saying it could impact Washington’s diplomatic relations with the continent.

3. Chad – USA

Chad halts US visas in revenge for Trump travel ban

The central African nation of Chad says it is suspending all visas to US citizens as a matter of "reciprocity", after learning that it is one of a dozen countries whose nationals are banned from travelling to the US.

4. Sudan – Khartoum

Sudan's former prime minister Abdalla Hamdok has called the military's moves to form a new government "false ," saying its recent victories in retaking the capital Khartoum and other territories will not end the country's two-year civil war.

5.In our historical archives, it was on this day 6 June 1995 when a historic resolution was taken by the South Afrikan Constitutional Court to abolish the death penalty. The court ruled that capital punishment, as provided for under the Criminal Procedure Act, was in conflict with the country's 1994 constitution.
