Kenyan officer deployed to Haiti killed in violent gang encounter

A Kenyan police officer deployed to Haiti to assist in combating violent gangs was killed during a confrontation with one of the gangs, according to Kenyan officials.

The incident occurred in the Artibonite region, where Kenyan forces were engaged in operations to address gang violence.

Fighting in eastern DRC kills about 7,000 people since January, DRC Prime Minister Suminwa tells the UN Human Rights Council yesterday.

More than 7,000 people have been killed in fighting in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) since last month, Prime Minister Judith Suminwa says, with a “significant” number of civilians among the dead.

Former President Joseph Kabila blames Current President Felix Tshisekedi's leadership for rising tensions in eastern DRC

The former head of state believes that Félix Tshisekedi aims to become the "absolute ruler of the country" by silencing the opposition and resorting to "intimidation, arbitrary arrests, and extrajudicial executions."

African Air Force Chiefs' Symposium Focuses on Humanitarian Crises, Not Afrikan Conflict. The heads of African air forces have called for the "strengthening military aviation across borders" during their annual symposium which is being in the Zambian capital of Lusaka. This year's gathering takes place against the backdrop of escalating conflicts in the region, including DR Congo and Sudan, which killed thousands of people and displaced millions.
