5.In our historical archives, it was on this day 27 February 1978 when Prof Mangaliso Robert “Hlathi “ Sobukwe died from lung complications at Kimberley General Hospital. His funeral was held on 11 March 1978 and he was buried in Graaff-Reinet. Today and until the side of eternity, he remains an esteemed political figure in the struggle for a democratic South Africa.
