1. Kenya – Sudan

Sudan’s paramilitary RSF and allies sign a deal to pave the way for parallel government

Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and allies on Sunday signed a charter that paved the way for the establishment of a parallel government, as Sudan’s army made advances recently against the rival groups.

The signing ceremony was held behind closed doors in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, after a highly publicized meeting last week in a building owned by the Kenyan government was condemned by the Foreign Ministry in Khartoum.

1. USA- Rwanda – DR Congo

Rwanda protests U.S. sanctions against top official

Rwanda's government on Friday asserted solidarity with a top official sanctioned by the U.S. over violence in eastern Congo, where Rwanda-backed rebels have captured two major cities in an armed conflict that now threatens the Congolese government.

Rwanda’s government described the sanctions against Gen. James Kabarebe, a deputy minister of foreign affairs, as “unjustified and unfounded.”

Congo’s president says he’ll create a unity government as violence spreads

Congo’s president says he is going to launch a unity government as violence spreads across the country’s east and pressure mounts over his handling of the crisis.

In some of his first statements since Rwandan-backed rebels captured major cities in eastern Congo, President Felix Tshisekedi told a meeting of the Sacred Union of the Nation ruling coalition on Saturday not to be distracted by internal quarrels.

President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in the Egyptian city of Cairo to begin his two -day State Visit from February 23 to 25, 2025.

President Hichilema is in Egypt at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi, to strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between Zambia and the Arab republic of Egypt.
