1. Egypt – Somalia 

Egypt sends arms to Somalia following security deal, sources say 

Egypt delivered its first military aid to Somalia in more than four decades on Tuesday, three diplomatic and Somali government sources said, a move likely to deepen strains between the two countries and Ethiopia. 

1. Ghana -Accra 

Second Edition of the All-African Movements Assembly – Accra 29-31 August 

The All-African Movements Assembly (AAMA) 2024, taking place from August 29th to 31st in Accra, Ghana, is a crucial gathering of African movements, activists, and human rights defenders. "Towards Pan-African Solidarity: United We Stand, Divided We Fall" to address these pressing issues. " 

 As Africa faces a rapidly shrinking civic space, with increasing crackdowns on dissent, harassment, abductions, and even killings of activists, the need for collective dialogue and unified action has never been more urgent. AAMA 2024 will convene under the theme  

1. Malawi- Mozambique

 President Chakwera Hosts Mozambican Counterpart Filipe Nyusi for State Visit 

Today, Malawi's President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera extended a warm welcome to his Mozambican counterpart, President Filipe Nyusi, for a significant two-day state visit. This visit marks an important occasion as President Nyusi is set to be honoured with an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in International Affairs and Diplomacy (Honoris Causa) by the University of Malawi. 

 

1. Namibia – Israel 

Namibia has, in a bold move, taken a stand against the ongoing Israeli war on Palestinians, and blocked a vessel carrying weapons destined for Israel from docking in Namibia. 

In a significant move, Justice minister Yvonne Dausab made the courageous call on Friday to the relevant authorities, including the Namibian Ports Authority, not to allow the vessel MV Kathrin to enter Namibian waters. 

1. In our historical archives, it was on this day 29 August 1994 when the South African GNU signed the SADC treaty and agreed to the aims of SADC, which include the development of common political values, the relief of poverty through economic growth and co-operation and the promotion of peace and security on the African continent.

 

In a statement, IRR’s campaign manager Marius Roodt said the City of Tshwane has shown stability unlike municipalities like Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni.
