1. Tunisia – Tunis

A Tunisian court on Tuesday upheld an appeal by prominent opposition politician Abdellatif Mekki, allowing him to resume his bid for the presidency in an election expected on Oct. 6, judicial and political sources told Reuters. 

1. Sudan- UN Security Council 

A United Nations Security Council committee is considering sanctioning two generals with Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for threatening the country's peace, security, or stability, including through violence and human rights abuses. 

1. Mali- Bamako

West Africa’s ‘coup belt’: Did Mali’s 2020 army takeover change the region? 

Four years ago this month, a group of Malian soldiers descended on a military base in Kati, close to the capital Bamako, arrested their most senior leaders, and seized weapons from the armoury. 

More than 10 coup attempts have been recorded in Central and West Africa since the August 2020 military takeover in Mali.

1. Sudan – Port Sudan 

Sudan's top military leader, General Abdel-Fattah Burhan, met with locals and first responders at the site of a dam collapse in the northeast of the country. The Arbaat Dam north of Port Sudan burst following torrential rain in the area, washing away farms and villages downstream. 

1. Denmark- Mali- Burkina Faso

Denmark said it will close its embassies in Mali and Burkina Faso as part of its new strategy for cooperation with Africa. The Foreign Ministry announced yesterday and stated that military coups in both countries had limited “the scope for action in the Sahel region”. 

1. Nigeria- Abuja 

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu named new homeland security and foreign intelligence chiefs yesterday, a week after their predecessors resigned abruptly, as Africa's most populous nation fights a northeastern insurgency and rampant kidnappings. 

4.Mozambique – Maputo  

The campaign for the general elections set for October 9 began in Mozambique has begun. The ruling party since independence in 1975, Frelimo, will face the main opposition party, Renamo, which originated from a former anti-communist rebellion.
