The 58 year-old scholar patrol guard who was accused of raping and sexual assaulting learners at the A.B Xuma Primary school in Soweto, has been found not guilty by the Johannesburg High Court sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrates court in Ekhuruleni. Johannes Molefe, who worked at the school as a patrol guard was arrested in October last year after several learners told teachers that had he raped and sexually assaulted them.

South African municipal Workers Union at Maluti A Phofung municipality in Qwaqwa eastern Free State demand the suspension of three officials who were arrested on fraud and corruption. The union leadership said their suspension will give way for smooth running of the investigation.The three officials who head supply chain, public safety and financial departments were arrested by the Hawks following the unit's probe into irregular awarding of about 17 million rand tender to security company.

Convicted serial rapist, Lebogang Gift Mokoena, has been sentenced to life for rape and an additional 35 years for other crimes in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court in Johannesburg. He is currently serving 13 life terms and 340 years. In October, Mokoena pleaded guilty to 43 combined counts of rape, kidnapping, aggravated robbery and other charges.

Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha has released a forensic report commissioned by the provincial Treasury department on mayors who deposited more than a billion-rand meant for service delivery in the now liquidated VBS mutual bank. The report follows that of the Reserve Bank - the Grand Heist report - which has also implicated two senior ANC officials - Treasurer Danny Msiza and deputy chairperson and Vhembe district executive mayor - Florence Radzilani. Some Limpopo municipalities have deposited a combined one-point-two billion-rand in VBS.

The EU’s top court ruled today that the British government may reverse its decision to leave the bloc without consulting other member states in a decision welcomed by those campaigning to stop Brexit. In an emergency judgment delivered just a day before the British parliament is due to vote on a Brexit deal agreed with the EU by Prime Minister Theresa May, the Court of Justice (ECJ) said: “The United Kingdom is free to revoke unilaterally the notification of its intention to withdraw from the EU.”
