SITA Workers have downed tools at the State Information Technology Agency offices countrywide over a wage dispute with the employer. The workers belonging to the Public Servants Association of South Africa, which represents the majority of employees at SITA, have served the employer with a notice for strike action following a deadlock in salary negotiations. They are demanding an inflation-linked 7.5% salary increase coupled with financial benefits, while the employees offering 5%.

E-Hailing Partners Council in Joburg is calling for E-hailing operators from Bolt and Uber to dump the recently introduced yellow Bajaj Qute quadricycles, which are made in India. The drivers also want the e-hailing companies to eliminate trip radar services, which are notifications sent to all drivers upon a trip request.

The High Court in Pretoria has heard how President Cyril Ramaphosa cannot be trusted to act impartially in the protracted battle over who is the rightful heir to succeed the late King Goodwill Zwelithini as AmaZulu king. The case to dethrone King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini brought by Prince Simakade Ka Zwelithini Zulu and Prince Mbonisi ka Bhekuzulu kicked off in the high court today. Misuzulu is the third-oldest surviving son of King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu and was officially crowned and recognized by the Government as the king of AmaZulu. His half-brothers are however challenging the President's decision to recognise him as King and want the royal family to appoint one. Lesotho remains in suspense as the country’s MPs are currently debating a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Sam Matekane. We understand that the no confidence motion proposes Democratic Congress leader Mathibeli Mokhothu as the new prime minister. Those who are calling for Matekane’s removal argue that he lacks experience, and he is incapable of leading the country.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has jokingly said that he may consider a public holiday if the Boks bring the Webb Ellis trophy home again. Ramaphosa delivered the keynote address at the second Green Hydrogen Summit virtually, and made some tongue-in-check comment, telling delegates that he couldn't attend in person because he has been trying - with no success - to speak to his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, about last night's game. Ramaphosa says while requests were made to have today declared a public holiday, he may consider it if the reigning world champions lift the cup again.
