West African nations have imposed sanctions and threatened force if Niger's coup leaders fail to reinstate ousted President Mohammed Bazoum within a week. The African Union has also stepped in, giving the military two weeks to restore constitutional authority.

The High Court in Johannesburg ruled in favour of South Africa Airways in a case brought by private airline, Airlink. The company was owed R890 million in airfares by SAA. The two companies had an agreement allowing Airlink to operate its flights using SAA flight codes and its booking system. SAA then went into business rescue before paying back the money it owed Airlink. The court dismissed Airlink’s application, saying the issue will not be dealt with outside the business rescue process of SAA. Zimbabwe’s Supreme Court has dismissed Saviour Kasukuwere's appeal against a High Court decision to disqualify him from contesting next month’s election. Kasukuwere approached the Supreme Court after his name was removed from the ballot. However, he says it is not over yet as he is considering his options.

The Pretoria High Court has heard that a sim swap was done on Senzo Meyiwa's cellphone number after he was shot and killed. The court also heard that Meyiwa had his phone with him in hospital and that he received a call while in hospital. Police's Cellphone Records Expert, Colonel Lambertus Steyn is on the stand for a second consecutive day. He is the fourth witness in the trial. Yesterday, he testified that accused number 5, Fisokuhle called Kelly Khumalo twice, in August and October 2014. He further testified that data from Khumalo's phone was wiped off, a few hours after Meyiwa was killed. The court has also heard that according to the cellphone records all five suspects had been in contact.
