Tributes continue to pour in for Tina Turner, the rock 'n' roll icon who passed away at 83. In a career spanning over 50 years, Turner won eight competitive Grammy Awards and has a star on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the St Louis Walk of Fame. Five hospitals in Limpopo are without water after angry residents from Phiphidi closed supply from the Nandoni Dam that supplies water to the region. The residents are protesting about wat5er scarcity in the area and lack of response from government. They say they have been dependent on smaller rivers and water tanks for water. We’re now joined by Limpopo health spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana.

A witness in the Enyobeni deaths case told the East London Magistrate’s court that a substance was sprayed prior to the tragedy that claimed 21 lives last year. The court also heard that the music continued playing while the children were dying. Owners of the tavern are facing charges of selling liquor to minors. The Annual Consumer Price Inflation has eased to 6.8% in April from 7.1% in March. Stats SA data shows that while the CPI did ease in April,  it is still outside the South African Reserve Bank’s target of between 3% and 6%. Food and beverages remained the largest contributors to the CPI.  This is the lowest reading of the CPI since May 2022, when the rate was 6.5%. Parents of children at Brandvlei Primary School in Randfontein blocked the N14 today burning tyres. They say the school has been without water and electricity for a month, compromising the health of their children. The parents also claim to have written to the education department in the province and have not received any response. The Democratic Republic of Congo has once again approached the International Criminal Court, urging it to act against alleged war crimes against humanity that are largely carried out in the eastern part of the country. For the longest time now, the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo have been the epicentre of the deadliest conflict. Kinshasa has been accusing neighbouring Rwanda of backing the M23 rebels in relation to the ongoing conflict, however, Rwanda has continuously denied any involvement. Preliminary results show a 9% decrease in the rate of murder in the Western Cape. The murder rate in the Western Cape has decreased by 9%. Areas that recorded decreases include Atlantis, Bishop Lavis, Gugulethu, Harare, Khayelitsha, Mfuleni and Samora Machel. However, areas like Delft, Mitchells Pain, Nyanga and Philippi recorded an increase. The Western Cape says some of the decrease can be attributed to is Law Enforcement Advancement Plan. This programme has seen more officers deployed in areas that struggle with crime. Eight of the areas that are LEAP precincts have seen a decrease, while five of them saw an increase.
