How does late rapper, Nkululeko 'Flabba' Habedi family feel about the release of his killer, Sindidiwe Manqele? Manqele was released on parole on Tuesday after serving half of her 12 year sentence. The correctional services Department says it believes Manqele is remorseful about the killing and has been rehabilitated. Spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo revealed on this show on Tuesday that Manqele had also finished her degree while incarcerated.

Unions representing workers at the South African Revenue Service took have taken to the streets on a full-blown strike, following a deadlock in wage discussions. The Nehemiah Call Initiative has asked the South African Human Rights Commission to investigate possible human rights violations that are allegedly being carried out by the City of Cape Town against homeless people in Mitchells Plain. The organisation is not happy about how the City’s law enforcement officers continuously mistreat homeless people who occupy land illegally hence they are calling on the commission to intervene.

SAFTU is currently holding its national elective conference in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg. New policies are also expected to be adopted before the conference draws to a close tomorrow. In the past two days, members of the trade union have been at loggerheads over administrational and protocol issues, for example - the issue of whether the four suspended national office bearers of the union should be re-instated or not, was taken to a vote, something that should have been taken care of before the start of the conference. So what is at the heart of SAFTU’s divisions and how are these divisions affecting the working class and members of the union?

Yesterday, Makwetla announced that the Presidential Task Team led by the Deputy President, DD Mabuza has successfully re-established the verification process of military veterans as we know that many of them were frustrated due to the fact that they couldn’t access the department’s necessary support.
