The University of the Western Cape, UWC say their security staffs has been assaulted, allegedly by students who refused to relocate to a vacation accommodation, while the Institution prepared for its annual closure, maintenance and deep cleaning of residences due to Covid. Yesterday chaos erupted when security staff clashed with students, who accused the University of evicting them from their residence over mandatory vaccinations. The University has denied removing students from its campus residences.

The story of a three-year-old Eastern Cape girl who was mauled to death by Pitbull has sparked conversations of introducing tougher By-laws for pet owners. Simamkele Kovu was reportedly playing near her house when she was attacked by the dog, which reportedly escaped through a broken gate. Simamkele sustained several bite wounds and succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The owners of Pitbull have not been charged at this stage for the attack.
