Two bomb explosions have been reported on Parliamentary Avenue in Kampala, Uganda. At least 24 people have been hospitalized with injuries sustained in the blasts. No terrorist organisation has thus far claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Gauteng Department of arts, culture and recreation spent more than R100,000 in corporate gifts this year. This according to the Democratic Alliance, DA in the province. The South African Jewish Board of Deputies has lashed out at Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa after the government withdrew its support for the Miss South Africa pageant. The Jewish Board has accused Minister Mthethwa for being "disinterested in real matters" other than the Miss Universe pageant. The Board says "the way we influence situations is to engage and not to withdraw".

Trade union NUMSA has been granted an order by the High Court in Pretoria that DENEL must pay its workers outstanding salaries and benefits dating back to May last year. DENEL and its various subsidiaries have been failing to pay its employees their full monthly salaries and benefits due to financial struggles that have been well publicized in recent years.
