Tributes are coming in for former president FW De Klerk who died this morning at his home in Fresnaye in Cape Town at the age of 85. De Klerk was South Africa's last Apartheid president and joint Nobel Peace Laureate with the late former president, Nelson Mandela. He was diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer earlier this year. It affects the lining of the lungs. De Klerk was head of state from September 1989 until May 1994. He is survived by his wife Elita. Two children and grandchildren. Security officers at Edenvale Hospital, east of Johannesburg, have been on strike for two weeks over salaries disputes. Security personnel from Jackcliffy Trading say they haven't been paid by the company for three months. The Gauteng Department of Health say they are in talks with the service provider. Meanwhile, the security of patients and its employees at the hospital has since been compromised by the strike.
