The Gauteng provincial government says it will provide warehousing for some of the Kwazulu-Natal businesses affected by the recent unrest. Many businesses including shopping malls were looted and damaged during the violent protests in Kwazulu-Natal and Gauteng. Economic Development MEC Parks Tau says they are looking at a number of interventions to assist affected township businesses.

The President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress, Sibongile Mazibuko, says they do not trust the Eswatini justice system. This after the High Court in Mbabane reserved judgement yesterday in the case of two members of parliament arrested for terrorism. The MPs are accused of inciting the violent pro-democracy protests that saw properties destroyed and left several people dead.

A coalition of civic groups have marched to the Durban City Hall over the recent killings in Phoenix. The coalition calling itself Justice for Phoenix Massacre Victims is calling for the establishment of a commission of inquiry into the deaths of more than 20 people in the Phoenix area north of Durban during unrest two weeks ago. Some bodies are yet to be identified at the Phoenix mortuary. A special police task team investigating deaths in the Phoenix area during the widespread unrest, has opened 35 murder dockets. More than 300 people died in the violence and looting in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi today visited Kempton Park and Thembisa's vaccination sites where he officially launched the vaccination rollout to Home Affairs officials. Minister Motsoaledi observed how the Department ensures services continue to be delivered to members of society while facilitating the inoculation of staff. As of last week, the Department had sadly lost 40 employees to COVID-19 and another 1 389 were adversely impacted.

Community members in Bonteheuwel, Cape Town have expressed shock at the arrest of one of the residents of the area for allegedly selling naked pictures of her four-year-old daughter on the Dark Web. The 32-year-old woman who appeared in court last week is facing a string of related charges, including financial gain from child pornography and rape. She remains in custody until her next appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court on the 19th of next month.
