Five men have been convicted to life imprisonment for murdering Rhythm City actor Dumisani Masilela. Masilela was shot during a hijacking in Tembisa in 2017. The national department of health has placed the CEO of the Health Professions Council of SA, Dr David Motau on precautionary suspension - after serious allegations of fraud and corruption were levelled against him. On Monday, Motau together with 12 other accused appeared before the Bloemfontein magistrate's court after being arrested by the Hawks. In his case, the charges stem from his tenure as the head of the Free State health department.

A Muslim lawyer is in hot water after she allegedly asked why a fellow Muslim lawyer is dressed like a 'ninja'. The comments were made during a virtual Constitutional Court hearing on an application by the Women's Legal Centre to advocate for the recognition and regulation of Muslim marriages by the State. During the virtual sitting, the lawyer could be heard saying "she's dressed like a ninja", referring to counsel Nazreen Bawa's hijab.

The National Prosecuting Authority, NPA has raised its concerns about former President Jacob Zuma's latest attempt to have his plea hearing heard in an open court. Zuma reportedly refused to consent to virtual 'special plea' hearing for his corruption trial. Zuma's imprisonment for contempt of court has seen mass looting, protests and unrest, that have left several people dead and many businesses damaged.

Police Minister Bheki Cele says a total of 22 suspects have been arrested in connection with violence in Phoenix north of Durban at the time of the unrest in KwaZulu-Natal two weeks ago. A total of 36 people were also killed. A team of highly experienced detectives from both the province and the rest of the country made the arrests. Cele says some of the suspects are connected to the several murder cases while others have been charged with attempted murder, malicious damage to property as well as defeating the ends of Justice.
