The High Court in Johannesburg has found that the suspension of ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule is lawful and valid. The court has also declared the suspension Magashule had issued to party President Cyril Ramaphosa null and void. Last month Magashule had asked the court to lift his suspension for failing to vacate his position following a directive under the ANC’s step aside resolution.

The Western Cape Transport Department say safe taxi operation will resume this afternoon after talks with industry leaders. Who is behind KwaZulu-Natal’s shutdown protests and how is the province handling the situation? Police in KwaZulu-Natal say there is no evidence that the protests are fueled by pro-Zuma supporters.
