Suspended ANC and MKMVA member Carl Niehaus has been arrested outside the Estcourt prison, in KZN where Jacob Zuma is being held. Niehaus was addressing supporters when he was arrested by police.

A group from the Matric class of 1985 are hoping to finally have the matric farewell Apartheid denied them. Former pupils from the then Fred Gaum Secondary School now known as the Ceres Secondary School in Ceres Western Cape will host their Matric dance on the 25th of September this year. 1985 signalled the beginning of the end of apartheid in South Africa, following an upsurge of violent and non-violent resistance to the racially-exclusive system. In an attempt to regain absolute control, the apartheid government enforced a partial State of Emergency in 1985 in order to manage media coverage, curfew times and the movement of citizens - Thus the Class of 1985 were unable to host their Matric farewell. We speak to Avaril Boer, a 54 year old from Worcester, who is part of the planning committee, that was establish for the Matric class of 1985 to celebrate their farewell...

The Department of Correctional Services says former President Jacob Zuma will not receive preferential treatment at their facilities. It says Zuma will be given the same services as that of other inmates. Zuma handed himself over to Correctional Services, less than an hour before the expiration of the deadline for police to arrest him. The Constitutional Court gave him 15 months prison sentence for contempt of court.

What’s next for Zuma? Former President Jacob Zuma handed himself over to prison authorities in the wee hours of the morning after his legal team failed to convince the Constitutional Court to suspend his arrest. Following this development, Zuma became the first South African leader to go to prison in the 27 years since apartheid ended. Carl Niehaus has been suspended from the ANC with immediate effect. The motion for suspension was tabled and adopted at the special NEC yesterday. Meanwhile Niehaus says he will appeal the suspension. Yesterday ANC Deputy Secretary General Jessie Duarte also announced that the Mkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans (MKMVA) and MK Veterans Council had been disbanded.

Wiseman Shange, a Taxi owner, has lost many loved ones due to the ongoing taxi violence in uMzinyathi, In Kwa-Zulu Natal. The ongoing violence is reportedly over taxi routes in the uMzinyathi area that the Inanda Taxi Association allegedly hijacked in 2004. Wiseman Shange says his brother was killed this year in a hail of bullets due to the ongoing disputes. He joins us on the line

Conflict between rival taxi associations, CATA and Codeta has led to the killing of seven taxi operators in separate shooting incidents throughout Cape Town today. Western Cape Transport Minister, Daylin Mitchell is set to meet with taxi associations and authorities to discuss the ongoing taxi violence.  Mitchell says the shootings bring the total number of taxi related murders in the province to 71 since the start of the year, with attempted murders and injuries at 33 over the same period.

Judgement in former South African President Jacob Zuma's application to stay his 15-month jail sentence before the Pietermaritzburg High Court has been reserved until Friday. Until then, the jury is out on whether the former leader will be behind bars come tomorrow, Thursday. The police ministry has said if it doesn't receive a response from the office of the Chief Justice by the end of business today, police officials will have no choice but to effect the arrest warrant against former president, Jacob Zuma.
