There has been mixed a mixed reaction to Finance Minister Tito Mboweni's 2020 Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement, which he delivered earlier on today. With thousands of jobs on the line at struggling State Owned Enterprise due to mismanagement and the Covid-19 pandemic, some trade unions have called on government to provide the funding to save jobs. Meanwhile some civil society organisation, were hoping the Policy Statement would reflect government's constitutional obligation to provide social assistance for those, aged 18 to 59, earning little to no income.
