For most of my teaching career, engaging in tough conversations with parents and students (or coworkers or administrators) has been something I have always tried to avoid! The thought of discussing a student's poor behavior or academic performance filled me with crippling anxiety! Can you relate to this??
However, I am learning that, although uncomfortable, I can handle those difficult conversations if I manage my mind and my emotions throughout the process. Braving those tough conversations can be incredibly beneficial to all parties involved if handled in the right way!
Tune in to this week's episode of The Strength of Teachers to learn what actually makes a conversation difficult and how to approach them before, during, and after in a way that will most likely set everyone up for success---AND learn how to have your own back when the conversation goes awry.
