In order to help us prevent burnout, I dug into how our bodies and minds communicate to us that we’re losing steam. As it turns out, they send us plenty of warning signs before hitting us with full on fatigue.

Mallory Page is a Food Freedom Registered Dietitian, and the host of the Seems Like Diet Culture podcast. In this episode, we get into Mallory's personal journey with food and body, and learn how Mallory got to be where she is today.

We also talk about how restriction with food pops up in other pockets of life, and how, conversely, when we heal our relationship with food, we find expansion in all areas of life. Mallory is SUCH a wealth of knowledge, and the wisdom she drops throughout this episode wrt. healing is so appreciated.

This episode is important to the mission of this show, as I firmly believe we cannot live in true alignment with our souls when we are caught up obsessing over things like food + body. Of course, I also recognize, as someone who has been here, that these are symptoms of deeper issues, and, so, that's all to say that, ultimately, we cannot live the juicy, fulfilling, on mission lives we were meant to lead until we heal the pain that we are carrying that, for many women—and men!—today, manifests as food and body struggles.

This one is for my creatives who feel like they need to choose between a balanced family-friendly life and an inspired tapped-into-the-muse life, as well as for those who feel like they need to choose between freedom and a relationship, as well as for those who—

Ok, in all reality, this is for anyone who feels like they have pulls in two opposite directions. Here's the thing: you may need to choose. But you may also just need to broaden your perspective, consider how you've held up the narrative that you can't have both, and then find creative solutions to free yourself from your own shackles, so that you can ultimately have both. 

I personally believe if we have deep, soul callings in two seemingly opposite directions, the solution is not to discard one for the other, but to find a way to honour both. That may be by looking at the underlying energies you're after, and then focusing on how to bring those into your life in a simpler way, or by analyzing your own inner blocks (like voicing your needs).

This is a big topic that deserves hours of conversation, from multiple perspectives. But this is mine, at least for today.

This episode is all about leaning into your desires, and about how, specifically, the desire for love is an absolutely beautiful, natural part of being human. 

This is a time of year in which many find themselves noticing their desire for love, and yet feeling a sort of shame, too, for having this desire—because of the messaging we've been receiving. The messaging I'm talking about is, You should be enough for yourself. You shouldn't need anyone. 

Here's the thing, I wholeheartedly believe in being enough for yourself. I believe that we all are, and if we don't all feel that way, then that's okay, but we have some healing to do. That said, being enough for yourself does not mean you "should not need anyone." We all need people. We all need love. This is a foundational part of what makes us human. We were never meant to be islands. 

I start out this episode introducing Living Like Water, living softly and strongly, acknowledging two (seemingly conflicting) things can be true at once. And that applies directly to love. We can be independent and strong, and we can be soft and desirous of love. 

If you find yourself judging yourself for your deep desires, rather than lean in to that judgement, rather than lean into shame, try curiosity instead. Try asking yourself why you feel that you shouldn't have these desires. What is the belief that you hold about yourself, your desires? 

Your desires are sacred. Honour them.
