THE NUTCRACKER by E.T.A Hoffmann

A classic story from Germany. Also, a famous ballet with music score by Tchaikovsky - two pieces of which, are used in this story. 

On Christmas eve, young Clara shrinks down to the size of a toy and travels to the land of the Sugarplum fairy - with a little help from a magical nutcracker soldier.
