  • EP 106: Malka's Sexuality (2): Is She "The Maiden" Archetype?

@tete.depunk and I recorded our third podcast today, and it’s about Malka’s Sexuality!

We continue from where we left off last time in “Malka’s Sexuality (1),” and make the following points:

-Malka wants to be consumed by Joel’s dark, intense, and mysterious allure. As Tete put it, she is the white swan being swallowed by the storm. She is the maiden seeking the truth about the world.

-Malka has always been intrigued by Joel’s mind and how he overthinks everything. She wonders why he does this and this makes her want to understand him more.

-There’s this instinctual spark between them that’s hard to explain. They just feel like loving and exploring each other the more they interact with each other.

-Malka knows Joel has a lot to give and she wants him to realize that he can overcome his self-imposed barriers of self-denial and hubris. She knows he is hurting and wants to love but his pride and distortions are preventing him from doing this, so she wants to help him break down these barriers.

Artwork here is my Queen of Cups illustration featuring Malka!

  • EP 105: Developing Kai Tomassen (1) - with @tete.depunk

    Description written by Tete.Depunk:

Our 2nd Podcast of the night, we discuss the origins origins of my character, Kai Tomassen, from my upcoming novel, "Death and the Midwife".

Because of this character's elusive nature and sparse communication (and my own stubborn, immature lack of communication with Kai), unfortunately, he became unwittingly attached to an entirely different character, the character of Lord frost, from an entirely different series, "Gerda and the Frost Lord".

We discuss the origins of the Frost Lord, and how he's an entirely different character from Kai, and how Kai came into his own- especially in the recent months, when Kai has revealed himself to be a different ethnicity than what I previously assumed him to be.
Join us in a frank and open discussion of a creator's struggles of discovering the true identity of one's characters!

  • EP 104: Reviewing Mikhail Sholokhov's "And Quiet Flows the Don" - with @tete.depunk

In this episode, Fortunus Games and Tete review "And Quiet Flows the Don"!

We explore the virtues and shortcomings of this literary masterpiece, including why it is a great political and social epic, but also why it sometimes falls flat concerning full and complete characterization lacking.

We also draw comparisons to the development of Tete's novel, "70 Fierce Years", which deals with the same subject as Sholokhov's epic: the life of dawn cossacks during the rise of the Russian Soviet Union.

    Merry Christmas! 🎄

  • EP 103: Writing About Sexuality (5): Kai Tomassen - with @tete.depunk

    Description written by Tete.Depunk:

Merry Christmas to all! As stated on @nutsboltswriting.podcast, and at @Fortunusgames' Instagram, we are gifting you guys with full podcasts on Instagram live that you can watch right here on IG!

Our 3rd and final Podcast for Christmas Day deals with writing about my character, Kai Tomassen, and the development of his own sexuality. The artwork of Kai in the thumbnail is by Fortunus Games!

We explore how forcing ideals or not listening to your character can really limit your character and character and the complete picture of their own person coma and that includes the aspect of their sexuality and their approach to it.

We also engage in a humorous little role play with Kai, Joel, and Andrei, on the side, lol!

    Merry Christmas! 🎄

  • EP 102: Writing About Sexuality (4): Joel's Evolution

This is the second episode with @tete.depunk for this #christmas night! Listen to the whole podcast here! We will also be posting this to our usual platforms later tonight and tomorrow.

In this episode, we talk about how Joel’s sexuality evolved, how he compares to Philip Roth’s characters like Portnoy, Nathan, and Henry, and Tete’s characters, Andrei and Tatusuya.

    Highlights:

-with Joel, I wanted to go against the tendency of some authors to either over-idealize male sexuality or characterize it as overly threatening.

-Joel’s an introverted seducer, while Andrei is an extroverted one

-Joel’s biggest flaw is his self-isolation and feeling that everything is pointless. He is also extremely proud of how skeptical he is compared to everyone else.

-Joel likes slow lead-ups to sexual encounters with Malka and he likes to observe all of her reactions. He is powered by empathy and love towards her and wants to make her feel comfortable. This is why his and Malka’s relationship is so healthy.
