Welcome to another episode of the Oil Dudes Podcast. This week's episode of the Oil Dudes Podcast, I talk with Keith Shaw who is a police officer and he has been diagnosed with PTSD. PTSD is Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. Maybe you have heard the term shell-shocked? First used in the first world war, it was a term to describe how some soldiers reacted during and after the war. It is a reaction to the intensity of the bombardment and fighting that produced a helplessness appearing variously as panic and being scared, or flight, an inability to reason, sleep, walk or talk.
We talk about how he was diagnosed, what some of his struggles have been and how he is learning to live with it. We get into his strategies and what he uses to help him feel better and control his mental health.
