- TFR 46: Back to NilbogWelcome to Nilbog!Today we cover three topics at once! Specifically we're covering our favorite documentary Best Worst Movie! This also affords us the opportunity to talk about Troll 2, and what makes a great documentary. In the past few years, services like Netflix have allowed for greater access to a wonderful storytelling medium previously stigmatized to educational films. We rejoice in the rise of the Documentary, and celebrate a cult hit, all in the same breath. - TFR 44: Freddy Lives!Hello and welcome to our Halloween special!Bad news, looks like an evil entity is on the loose. The only thing that can contain it is if we do another cast. Just kidding, we wanted to pay tribute to Freddy Krueger and his creator Wes Craven by taking a look at Wes Craven's New Nightmare! What happens when a Johns Hopkins Writing/Philosphy double major graduate makes a film about horror films? You get a frightening, meta-as-hell look at one of the best horror creations of all time! 1994 audiences were not ready for this level of meta-horror, but we are! This is our salute and farewell to the man who changed the face of horror forever.RIP, Wes Craven.Listen to the first part of Al's guest appearance on Cthulhu on Parade!E-mail us: [email protected]Like us on Facebook!Twitter us: @FilmRoomCastAlbert: @PrimitiveManPrdAustin: @untitleduserSecret Twitter: @?????Check out our side blog: The Film Room LobbyWe are on iTunes! Please subscribe, rate, and review!Come help us grow and gain access to exclusive content! - TFR 43: Hitchcocktober III - The Trouble With HarryWelcome to the conclusion of this year's Hitchcocktober! This week we talk about Hitchcock's comedy The Trouble With Harry. In this until recently lost entry in the Hitchcock canon, a group of townsfolk must deal with a dead body that has shown up in the woods. Also notable about this film is it's Hitchcock's first collaboration with Bernard Herman, as well as having launched a few acting careers. So enjoy while we talk The Trouble With Harry!E-mail us: [email protected]Like us on Facebook!Twitter us: @FilmRoomCastAlbert: @PrimitiveManPrdAustin: @untitleduserSecret Twitter: @?????Check out our side blog: The Film Room LobbyWe are on iTunes! Please subscribe, rate, and review!Come help us grow and gain access to exclusive content! - TFR 42: Comedy of ErrWelcome back to hell, albeit a lighter one.We hit our $15 Patreon goal recently, so this week we went back to SeltzerBerg for their to date only non-parody comedy! Surprisingly, we were a little kinder to this one than we originally thought we would be. "Surprisingly" isn't quite the right word. More like "Frustratingly", because of what it could have been. In any case, we watched this movie so you, our loyal listeners, never EVER have to. - TFR 41: Hitchcocktober III - RopeWelcome to Hitchcocktober! We kick off this year's celebration of The Master of Suspense with Rope, Hitchcock's simulated single-take experiment! Starring Jimmy Stewart, this film revolves around a dinner party hosted just after a thrill murder in which the body in still hidden in the room (on purpose, of course). - TFR 40: A Man Called HorseWelcome to another Patreon request episode! This week's request was made by Patron Bridgett Shinn! She requested A Man Called Horse, a movie starring one of her favorite actors, Richard Harris! We had fun with this one, as it was the first (and certainly not last!) Western we've ever covered. We discuss what it means to be PC in the 70's, as well as Harris's long career, and what a feat of a movie this is.E-mail us: [email protected]Like us on Facebook!Twitter us: @FilmRoomCastAlbert: @PrimitiveManPrdAustin: @untitleduserCheck out our side blog: The Film Room LobbyWe are on iTunes! Please subscribe, rate, and review!Come help us grow and gain access to exclusive content! - TFR Mini: Shyamalan Returns
If you all remember waaaaaaay back to episode 12, we ripped into The Last Airbender and mourned the fall of Shyamalan. Well.. consider this an addendum to that episode, because we both saw Shyamalan's latest film, The Visit, last week, and we have some thoughts. Needless to say we get utter some phrases that we never thought we'd get to say again.
As to Austin's plea at the end of the epidsode, it worked! They now have a beautiful daughter on whom they dote often.
22 min - TFR 39: Zapped! ..Again, ApparentlyWelcome to our first Patreon Request episode! As per Nathan's suggestion, we did the cult hit (haha, we can't type that with a straight face) Zapped Again! Zapped Again! is the long-awaited (again, straight face) sequel to the teen sex comedy Zapped! Hear us rip apart this *ahem* Classic to some heavily sampled beats!E-mail us: [email protected]Like us on Facebook!Twitter us: @FilmRoomCastAlbert: @PrimitiveManPrdAustin: @untitleduserCheck out our side blog: The Film Room LobbyWe are on iTunes! Please subscribe, rate, and review!Come help us grow and gain access to exclusive content! - TFR 38: Too Big for the Small ScreenWelcome! This week we delve into the deep, dark realm of TV shows that evolved from movies. TV hastaken its cue from film ever since television was first broadcast, and the two mediums have grown side-by-side ever since. As such, there has been a lot of.. bleeding over from one to other, often with mixed results. We explore the best and worst TV shows we remember (mostly animated; who would have thought animation would be such a popular medium for adapting movies?) and explore what the future of what film-to-TV could become!E-mail us: [email protected]Like us on Facebook!Twitter us: @FilmRoomCastAlbert: @PrimitiveManPrdAustin: @untitleduserCheck out our side blog: The Film Room LobbyWe are on iTunes! Please subscribe, rate, and review!Come help us grow and gain access to exclusive content!
