The Open Word (Audio)

When God first judged the world with water, Noah, a Godly man, found favor in the eyes of God and was delivered from the storm. Later on, Lot, a man vexed by the evils he observed around him, was spared from the judgment of the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. In today’s message, Pastor David teaches us that the Lord is fully able to deliver His people from judgment. Jesus protects the sheep in His flock and spares His people the wrath of God that will soon be poured on onto a rebellious world.

The Bible says that there are demonic forces of evil and principalities and powers of wickedness in high places that war against all the people of the earth and specifically against the people of God. In today’s message, Pastor David reminds us of the reality of spiritual warfare so that we will remember where our real enemy lies. Pastor David also teaches us that these spiritually wicked powers will ultimately face judgment and destruction. One day in the future, Almighty God will put an end their evil deeds.

In the book of 2 Peter, Peter sternly warns the church against falling for destructive heresies brought in by self seeking men. In today’s message, Pastor David points out that false teachers try to add to the finished work of the cross. Instead of teaching that we receive the gift of salvation by faith, these deceivers lead the people back into the bondage of works based religion. Pastor David admonishes us to hold fast to Christ and the precious freedom He gave us, for we no longer have to try to work to earn salvation. It is a free gift of God.

The Word of God makes it clear that Jesus does many miracles. However, Scripture also reveals that Satan masquerades as an angel of light, and he too can perform lying signs and wonders to deceive many. In today’s message, Pastor David warns us that a miracle does not necessarily mean that God is at work. If we seek after miracles more than Jesus, we open ourselves up deception. Pastor David points out that the way to protect ourselves from being duped by Satan’s razzle dazzle is to know the truth as defined by the Scriptures.

In today’s message, Pastor David teaches us that both science and documented history prove the validity of the Word of God. For example, the crucifixion account does not just appear in the Bible. The prominent historian Josephus along with other reliable sources of the first century wrote of Jesus’s death on a cross. When archaeologists and scientists claim that the Word contains a historical fiction, time and scientific discovery always prove that the Bible can be trusted as fact.
