The Open Word (Audio)

The Bible teaches that if we do not have love, we do not having anything. In today’s message, Pastor David breaks down this very important truth in practical terms. If we have an amazing ability to teach the Bible, but we do not deliver the truth with love, we gain nothing. If we give all that we have to the poor but do not love our neighbor, the Lord is not impressed by our generosity. If we have all knowledge and understanding but do not have love, our words will sound like bothersome noise.

As Believers in Christ we are not called to simply stand still. Instead, the Lord wants us to make forward progress in our faith and in our walk with Him. In today’s message, Pastor David encourages us to not grow weary in doing good but to persevere in righteousness even when the going gets tough. Though we may be pressed down on every side, the Lord is with us, holding us, and helping us to overcome, gain ground, the defeat our foe. Jesus promises that nothing can separate us from His love, and so we bravely march on.

Christ said that if we do not put Him before mother, brother, children, and spouse, we are not worthy of Him. In today’s message, Pastor David encourages us to surrender all of our hearts and all of our lives to the Lord. Because we have been bought with the highest price, Jesus deserves our total devotion. The good news is that when we lay down our lives at the feet of Jesus, He gives us an abundant life in return that only comes from intimate fellowship with God and with His people.

In today’s message, Pastor David points out that there are some that lead the unsuspecting and ill-informed astray by teaching that one only need to pray one prayer at an alter call to receive salvation and make it into heaven after they die. Then, convinced of their full proof life insurance policy, these folks continue to live life as normal as though they had never prayed in the first place. These are false converts stemming from a false Gospel. The true Gospel teaches us that if we truly belong to Jesus, we will produce fruit and do as the Lord leads.

Believing in Jesus and confessing Him as Lord is good. However, the Bible says that faith without works in dead. In today’s message, Pastor David impresses upon us the importance of personal responsibility in the life of every Believer. We cannot expect to grow up into maturity by osmosis. Instead, we have to do the Bible says and add to our faith by taking ownership of our spiritual walk with the Lord. Put another way, just as a builder spends time and care building a home, we too must put forth effort to grow into maturity.
