The Open Word (Audio)

The life of a Christian is tough. We have to daily die to our flesh and submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ on a moment by moment basis. Further, we have an enemy who prowls around us like a roaring lion waiting for the perfect time to try and kill, steal, and destroy us. In today’s message, Pastor David teaches us that even when life gets tough and the attacks of the enemy are at their peak, we have God’s promise of perfect peace. Jesus is able to give us joy in the midst of pain and strength to overcome all of life’s challenges.

We as God’s people have been given new life. Abba Father is our God and we have inherited every spiritual blessing. We know that Jesus loves us and cares for our every need. In today’s message, Pastor David points out that if we truly believe everything the Lord says about us in His Word, we no longer have to be afraid about man’s opinion of us. This allows us to walk in humility and to serve others with joy. In other words, a heart that is content and confident in God is not moved by earthly circumstances.

Leading the Lord’s people is a high calling with great responsibilities. Those who aren’t called to shepherd the Lord’s people or who are unprepared to lead should not be allowed to enter into leadership positions. In today’s message, Pastor David teaches us what the qualifications are for a pastor, bishop, elder, or anyone else in church leadership. First and foremost, church leaders should be living examples of faithfulness to Jesus Christ. Also, church leaders are called to serve God’s people sacrificially and care for their needs.

Not everyone is qualified to lead God’s people, and those that do so should approach the responsibility soberly because God holds leaders to a higher standard. In today’s message, Pastor David teaches us that a Church leader or elder should have knowledge of the word of God and wisdom gained through life experience. Church elders should also be of good reputation and a willing and kind servant to all. We need only look to Jesus, the Good Shepherd, for the perfect example of servant leadership.

The Church is no stranger to persecution. God’s people have endured great suffering and hardship in the Name of Jesus. In today’s message, Pastor David admonishes us to never forget our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ. There are more Christians suffering for the Lord around the world than at any other time in human history, and we are called to remember them in our prayers. In addition, Pastor David urges us to be faithful in our freedoms to worship Jesus openly while we still can.
